England match last night

I went to see England V Wales last night and although Wembley Stadium is an awesome stadium and looks great, and it is a real experience going, i have to say it is devoid of any atmosphere whatsoever especially if you are sitting up the top as my mate and myself were. Like sitting in a morgue (and i should know i've sat in a few )
When England scored we went to jump up but realsied that if we did we would end up on the people 60ft below us !!
Food etc is an absolute rip off so didn't even bother when we saw the prices.
There was a sign outside the turnstiles that was huge and bright orange say please read this before you enter Wembley.
There were about 30 pictures of different things you couldn't bring in including these two items (and this made everyone laugh) a fire extinguisher ? WTF would you bring that to Wembley for
and NO FLAGS OR FLAG POLES Its a bloody football ground for christ sake !!!!!
The travelling and getting in the stadium is a f**king holy nightmare too.
God knows what it will be like in London during the Olympics ?
I can safely say i won't be going again in the near future and would say the best place to watch England play is in a rowdy local packed with all your mates in front of a big screen.
One good touch though some poor sod on the Tunbridge Wells train left his match program on the seats so thank you too him

I was there last night too in block 501. It was a shame seeing some of the top tier on the other side of the stadium empty, and I agree about that atmosphere too. Was so far away from the pitch did not feel personal, paid £8 pound for an average bit of pizza and a coke.

Agree wont be going there any time too soon, much rather save myself some money, have more fun, and watch it in a pub with mates.

I was there last night also and the atmosphere wasnt great, but this was my tenth visit to the new wembly to watch England its always more intense when we are playing better quality oppostion. It does amaze me that people dont do their research before i went the first time i looked at reviews on the net an was well aware of the food prices which are very steep. I have never spent a penny in the stadium, the cheap seats are a waste of time as you need a telescope to the see the pitch, if you fork out an extra £20 its a totally differenet experience. Last night had a great meal in chinatown then went to The North London Tavern in Kilburn for a few pints of real ale and had a very enjoyable evening!

I went too last night, and relatively (I still love going to Wembley) it was the most subdued atmosphere from England fans I've seen for a while. Which is a shame if you're going for the first time, obviously, because that is your only reference point.

There are reasons, I guess. There's little to play for in the group, England expect to qualify. It will be a miracle if Montenegro beat us and then win in Switzerland. England fans generally aren't that excited by qualifiers any more. We've won so many groups in impressive style, only to bomb in the main event. Only a tournament win can change that, IMHO. Also, the opposition is a factor, and Wales don't get the pulse racing, well as they played yesterday. Only a scintillating display could have salvaged things with the crowd, and what we saw was far from that. Maybe also not many people present will travel to Poland/Ukraine, we took more than 100,000 to Germany in 2006, it will be a fraction of that so there's not so much to look forward to.

To be honest, though, when I heard about the Welsh fan on the way home, all of the above seemed pretty irrelevant. I was going to remember the match mainly for Earnshaw's miss. Now it will be someone senselessly getting killed.

Great experience being there.

f*** all atmosphere except the band behind the goal. Queues to get to and from the stadium were a joke with no metropolitan line, bordering on dangerous overcvrowding on the tube up there and same again on train home.

It cost me and my misses £25 for 2 burgers and 2 drinks - WTF - and none of the c/card machines were working so took 35mins to get that food!!
While sitting there i really missed not being at the Amex.

Atmosphere was poor there last night, the worst I have seen at a competitive international. The only reason there was some singing at all was to drown out the Welsh fans, if they had not sung it would have been a morgue.

Worth noting, we take more away fans to games than Wales. A nation with a population of circa 3,000,000 failed to fill HALF of their allocation. Pitiful.

I knew the atmosphere wouldn't be as good as club football but no where near as bad as it was last night.. Won't be rushing back there anytime soon, unless Brighton are playing there..

The atmosphere last night was easily the worst since the return to the new Wembley. Wales only bringing about 1,500 didnt help, they were the only fans singning for most of the game but being down the other end we could only just hear them.

We always go for the cheap tickets but in the front 3-4 rows of the lower tier behind the goal. Usually better atmosphere down there, but not last night.

Got there 5 minutes after kick off due to opting for an extra beer before leaving the pub, then the Metropolitan line breaking down, so everyone had to change for the Jubilee line.

Poor game but not that important really when somebody has been murdered going to a game of football! Sad, very sad.

Reading the BBC news today to try and find our what really happened (still not clear at all) and saw 2 other horror stories of a lad who stabbed a women to death (30 stab wounds) over a row about Garlic Bread, a bloke killed for an arguement about conkers and a women who had no car insurance and twice over the drink drive limit driving the wrong way for 23 miles on the M5. What sort of country do we live in at the moment?

On the funny side i was on the tube train going there and a load of blokes with Southern accents (not London) were standing next to me and my mate.
They all had beer so i felt very left out and being the beer monster i am and not shy or proud i asked to buy a can off one of them, he said "sorry mate none left, but here have a swig of mine" what BLOODY NICE BLOKE I THOUGHT !!
I was just summing up the courage to ask what team they supported when all of a sudden from their whole group came the song i so desperately wanted to hear >>>

I've been about 4 times but the lack of any atmosphere completely put me off. I've been back since for rugby and that atmosphere was much better (although being able to drink beer in the seats may have helped!).

To be honest I've also been put off by the moronic nature of England fans. I went to Eng v Kazakhstan a couple of years ago; barely any cheering, and the only significant noise was when the Kazakh fans had the temerity to start chanting, and even then the only response was booing, which is IMHO pathetic. By all means out sing them, but booing, really?
Ashley Cole made a silly mistake which lead to us conceding a goal and then everyone started booing him too; what's the point? How's it going to encourage the players by booing them? I can't really blame the players for not looking forward to playing at Wembley. Can't see myself going back in the near future.
