Well he can hardly walk away now as nobody would employ him. All he can do is hope results pick up and England scrape into the finals on the back of other results.

That is just plain stubborness. Most managers walk away when they realise the fans dont want them (awaits mcghee Posts;) ) like Keegen and El tell did.

The thing is who would replace him?

I wouldn't mind Coppell doing the job but hes clearly not intressted after signing a new contract at reading

I think Coppell could be a very good England manager.

I think the FA are missing a trick here, especially now that they're such big mates with ITV.

They could set up a new celebrity reality TV show along the lines of "Dancing on Ice" or " Strictly Come Dancing" called "The Poison Chalice". 10 Z-list celebrities (for example, the Krankies, Lisa Riley or Jimmy Cricket) battle to take on the job of England manager for a major competition.

The show could go on for 10 or 12 weeks & the celebrities have to complete a different special challenge each week, with the public voting off their favourite until only 2 survive. The final 2 each take charge of a specially arranged England friendly & then the public pick the winner.

There would be a judging panel, of course. I thought: Saint & Greavsie, Alan Ball & a token funny-speaking foreigner (maybe Ossie Ardiles).

John Barnes could present it.

What do you reckon? I think it's got legs, you know.

Who wanted rid of El Tel?

Wasn't he ousted by the FA rather than the fans?

Big Sam will be the next England manager

please tell me you are having some sort of laugh. the bloke has not exactly set the world alight with his tactical genius just because he can shout at his players does not mean he is any good.

Personally think Capello should be given the job when he gets sacked at Madrid. Euro experience, has respect and dosn't mind dropping under performing players. Only down side is his teams are not known for being exciting but sure we could live with that if we win

Err, off the top of my head: Hiddink, O'Neill, Scolari, Capello, Mourinho.

Enough for you?

Hiddink is tied up with Russia, Big Phil wasn't intressted. O'neil isn't setting the world alight at villa and don't think Mourinho would leave Chelsea in just the same way that Coppell would be foolish to leave Reading thats why hes not intressted.

Theres no English manager that is good enough and most people would want a British coach after what happened with Sven

Agreed. I don't understand the clamour for Sam Allardyce at all.
