I cannot watch England playing football anymore... it is rubbish. I think I have been seduced by the Gus magic. Everytime I see some English player hoof the ball into nowhere my heart sinks. Keep the f***ing thing!! Pass it around. Let the opposing team run like rabbits. Have I been spoilt?

The funny thing is that it wouldn't surprise me if we 1-0 bore score our way to a final and Roy would be a hero

Have to admit this England team is distinctly average, yet can imagine they may do a bit better than usual by being a bit negative and hard to break down with an ability to nick a goal as we have decent enough players going foward. Lets face it we are never going to out flair holland or spain but may be able to battle it out and somehow win the day, not going to be pretty though but thats the way its going to have to be

As boring as watching England play is, I will still end up watching every match in the Euros.

Pretty tippy tappy football is all well and good if you have the players capable of doing it against class opposition. If you haven't, then play to the strengths you have and try and win the game that way.

Personally I wouldn't care how England played if they ended up going further in the Euro's than anyone expects. Do you think any Chelsea fans give a toss about their style of play against Barca and in the final after they became European Champions?

No, you have simply lost the plot. Generally, if you care to look properly, when an England player "hoofs" the ball, it is a long telling pass to another white shirt. Half the time out lot cannot even achieve that a few yards.

So you do not care how we win? Just that if even though we are rubbish that by some lucky fuke we win on penalties. That is our penalty. Our punishment. Bah.

I totally agree. Also, I think Roy will be a good manager for us. He is very organised, and will keep the players under control. The only think missing is a few Brighton players!

Absolutely agree.

I've seen England teams outplay teams in numerous quarter finals over the last 30 years and then lose...Plucky England eh?

If we can win every game 1-0 but play classic English counter attacking football then yes, it's not always attractive to watch, but we have a better chance of progressing than we have under Eriksson and Capello.

If you look at Holland in the last World Cup...they were one of the dirtiest teams at the tournament, but they were effective and without playing the flair football that they've done so many times in the past and underachieve, they played a classic English style game of playing to the strengths of their midfield.

England are, I believe, doing a similar thing and we will be incredibly difficult to beat, just like Germany were throughout the 70s, 80s & 90s and so what do you want? An England team who play pretty football all the time but win f*** all or an England team who play to stop the opposition from scoring and win games by the odd goal, but maybe aren't as exciting to watch?

You only have to look at how many times Germany & Italy have won the World Cup playing the same tactics to know that flair, very rarely, wins international tournaments.

Strangely enough for the first 20 minutes when we were trying to pass it around and through them and losing possession I was willing them to pump it forward. See! the old fashioned English way is still there not far beneath the surface.

It's not good, granted.

With Roy at the helm, I'm still prepared to believe.
If Harry had got the job I think we'd have to write off the next 10 years of international football.
Due to the damage he'd do, not that he'd have been in the job for long than 18 months.

Exactly. We are shit. Cannot keep the ball and cannot pass. All we can hope for is the big boot to relieve our tension...

Also we have a seriously tough task just to qualify from the group imo, def not going to be easy, so if we can just grind out a few results and get through i will be well pleased and after that we'll get hammered 5-0 by spain or holland! (dont know who were likely to meet) No, after that who knows on any given day we could beat any of the teams, just not that likely
