He really needs to be playing every week.

If he has any sense he should reject their contact offer, stick with them until January and see if they're going to make him their first choice CB.

If they don't he can get the move he seems to want in January.
Now, even allowing for PL footballers' instant need for more pay and agents greedy for a percentage of even more, that would be a really good idea. In less than 6 months, if he is a regular 1st. choice with a team being built round him, he can still sign his treble your money new contract at some rubbish London club - and if they're not playing him regularly he won't be tied down to a life-long contract somewhere he doesn't want to be.

Maybe he’s been talking to Lamptey.

His contract ends in June 25 so he wouldn't be able to talk to other clubs until Jan 25 with a view to signing when his contract ends in June 25. If he doesn't sign a new contract then Chelsea may sell him before hand but they may also still hold on to him.

He can let them know in January that he has no intention of signing a new contract and will walk for free in 2025 unless he is transferred. That will at least give Chesea a decision to make - and of course, his agent can go on talkig to whoever he likes, be it Tony Bloom, Amanda Staveley, Daniel Levy, Real Madrid, Fabrizio Romano or Uncle Tom Cobley. Unsettled, unhappy, want-away player - not good, is it?

Of course, this is pure speculation, mixed with a smidgeon of wishful thinking, and most likely won't happen at all!

The point I was making was that Johnny Roastbeef seemed to imply that he could do all this next January which isn't the case, it's the following Jan when he can talk to other clubs.

The only thing he can't do this January is formally talk to other clubs and sign a pre-contract. Everything else - letting the club know he won't sign and will wak away on a free, his agent talking to all and sundry - can take place at any time.

Maybe he has seen what Mount has done. He must know that at least, Brighton and Liverpool are interested and there could be many more if he doesn’t sign the extended contract.

Interesting discussion on Talksport this afternoon (yes, such things do happen occasionally) - suggestion that there are reports that Colwill's preference is to stay at Brighton. Immediately pooh-pooed by other presenter...."But Chelsea are a bigger club!" Pointed out that Brighton are in Europe, Chelsea aren't. "Yes, but Chelsea are a much bigger club - and he'll have a chance to be in Pochetino's (sp?) project, blah, blah blah." - presenter 1 then suggested it was being said that Colwill wanted to continue to work with De Zerbi.

At this point, of course, Talksport being Talksport, they quickly moved on from any whiff of heresy, and back to discussion of the 'Big Six'!
