Whilst I have no experience of NZ, I did go and live in Australia for 7 years and there are parallels.
In my 20's I had a great time, the weather, the outdoor life, I had spare cash and could pop back every year, visit the folks and catch a few Albion games.
But now I have a family its a different ball game. Those once a year trips would be impossible more like once every five. I would never see or be able to help my aging parents and my kids would never have grandparents.
Both Oz / NZ offer a lot, but on balance after returning to the UK a decade a go I soon realised the UK has a lot, and don't be fooled a lot of the challenges here such as high living costs have now found their way there. Sydney for example is now so unaffordable virtually everyone I knew there has left or moved the its far fringes, and actually far more congested and polluted than Sussex
If you have no family ties or everyone can go it a far easier decision
