lol winning 1-0 though the season is not sustainable and proven to be the case we drawn most of our games and now the goals have dried up.
This thread typifies why I believe the majority of football fans are braindead morons. It's a shame there isn't some sort of IQ test needed to be a supporter.

For the love of God, it's a bad run of games. In the history of football, losing a few without scoring isn't unique to Brighton and we are not a laughing stock. In matches that matter, you don't get given a chance, you have to earn a chance - unless the squad is so depleted that there is no choice (JFC at 16 being a very rare example). James Tilley, for example, evidently hasn't yet reached the level where he has earned that 'chance'. He has a tiny amount of experience of being with a senior professional squad.
The difference in quality between a development squad and the professional first team at the top of the Championship is astronomical. To make that leap, it usually has to be done in stages - e.g. send him out on loan to get first-team professional experience. So for you to get ranty about players who evidently aren't yet ready just because the senior team is misfiring is risible.
'No excuse'? Oh, please. He has Kazenga, Manu, Knockaert, Stephens, Crofts, Kayal, Ince, Holla et al all ahead of him. James Tilley will be brought in when the management think he's ready, not when you want to have a meltdown.

Bruno has been outstanding this season and is a very consistent player.
Losing Solly who was in the best form of his career and was the player that was creating opportunities and running/ taking on players was a massive blow for us. With Kaz out too we just dont have a flair player to cause trouble and produce that spark or a deliver that high quality ball or piece of magic from nowhere.
We can have all the possession in the world, and put in all the crosses in the world that dont go nowhere, but players like Solly and Kaz are that direct kind of player that we need, they can make or break a game and we are clearly lacking that at the moment.

The Championship is a cruel and ruthless mistress with a chaotic mid table. We need to steady the ship desperately, otherwise we;ll find ourselves at the other end of the league in a matter of weeks.

Although form has undoubtedly dipped, there's no way we deserved to lose the Ipswich and Wolves games. If we'd got points from those two matches, there wouldn't be so much moaning now. We'll turn it round. We're still in the play--off places - I think most people would've have taken that at the beginning of the season!
I am being a little bit mischievous, however I am suggesting that all divisions at all levels have a wad of teams of mid table quality, those teams will through an element of luck perhaps make a hint of a play off place IF things go their way but similarly it might fall the other way and they start looking towards relegation anxiety.
You say its a tight division even though the top 4 teams have a goal differences of 25, 20, 18 & 16 before those below them, us included very quickly falls away to 5, 4, 3 and 1's, basically no other dip in GD until Leeds in 15th place, thats really my point.
If any of those mid table teams happen to go upwards then that manager will cite, training, positive environment, tactical awareness and solidity in his chosen formation blah blah blah as the reasons for their success when actually if you cared to closely analyse those games that have been won, it was likely to be something that could never be associated to those claims, just as much 'luck as judgement'.
Its the nature of a mid table teams, its looking like we might be one of them, unless we can change our personnel and somehow recreate ourselves as a goalscoring winning side we will need to rely on lady luck.

A lack of consistent personnel in the back four, again mainly due to injury, has IMO meant we haven't been as solid at the back.
It's not a poor squad, the depth in our squad has been tested in the EXTREME.

When you look back at the Birmingham game, although I thought they were poor, I thought we were outstanding.
The squad that day was more or less the same as it is now, with the exception of those two, and wasn't this the game that we lost Rosenior?
Yes we need a goal scorer, but as has been said many times recently, Messi wouldn't score in our side at the moment, we have needed a goal scorer all season, hence Wilson being brought in. What we need more is someone who can create, someone who can chip in with goals from midfield when our strikers aren't doing it.
Are we doing anything about that? Yes, Knockaert has been brought in and I'll bet once he's settled we won't even notice Solly is missing, Towell has been brought in and needs time to adjust to the rise in standard, that will happen with training and appearances from the bench, Kaz will soon be back up to speed, he's just back and it will take a few games but he'll get there.
Once these 3 are settled into the team, or coming on from the bench we will have a wealth of creative players, Baldock is another who although not prolific, causes defences all sorts of problems with his movement.
Very soon these players will influence games more, taking the pressure off Kayal and Stephens, and our creeking defence, and taking the expectation off of young James Wilson.
Yes we still need a striker, but every other team in the league say the same, if we don't get one, then we just have to go with what we've got and with a fully fit squad and the additions we've made, that fully fit squad is good enough to make the play offs.
This season so far reminds me of the Palace team that beat us in the play offs, they were flying early on, looking a really good side, then the wheels came off and they slipped out of the top 6, but they still had enough about them to come back.
We have to show that we have enough about us now.
Keep the faith and for God sake stay behind the team.

Great post.
Even the self proclaimed 'glass half full' fans, are now enthusiastically saying we're still well in the play offsmix ... whereas a couple of months ago they/we were realistically hoping that we went up as Champions. Subconsciously admitting that this shocking slump has lowered their targets too.
The stumbling during October and November, has been exposed. A grandad/error strewn defence, and inept going forward. Zamora and Wilson, with some vital goals, delayed the slump until the shit arrived.
Looks like the first movement back to 'lickers and bedwetters' ! Had to happen. Sigh. Just as bad for me as the rampant over-optimism our unbeaten run led to is the 'I told you so' lot crowing about how they were right all along but we'll always have those at both ends of the scale I guess.
