perhaps not the right way of looking at things but... would we pay £500k for Cox? He's done OK in League 1, but he is so limited in size and pace that his game can easily be blotted out by an experienced defender. He would struggle in the Championship and I can't see many clubs being willing to fork out half a million on someone who can't go past a defender.
anyway, this thread is about Elphick!
After speaking to him last night at the dinner, I agree.

in all fairness, if a move was on the cards for him and it needs to be kept quiet in order for the deal to go through, he is not exactly going to come out and say he is off, especally not to a random fan at the clubs christmas dinner

There's scouts at every game, not necessarily looking at anything specific but keeping tabs on any talent at all. 5 years ago I was on the train back from Withdean and was chatting to a bolton scout. He went to a game every week in the South East just in case there was anyone decent to have a closer look at. Said the only good player we had was Brooker but he wouldn't be having a closer look at him

Quite. I didn't realise (obviously, cos I don't work for the club) that other clubs are asking about the availability of our players "all the bloody time..."

Don't you think I was also watching for a flicker of the eyelids and facial expression as he answered the question? He seemed genuinely surprised that it should be a question he was asked. Either that or he's a good actor.
He also told me he was training today (Tues) and not playing at Bognor because he hoped to be fit for Swindon (on Saturday) so there wasn't any question of him playing in the reserves tonight.
I don't have to be an oracle. I just ask straight questions, get answers and don't need anyone's approval.
That was Junior who tried to pretend he had spoken to Revell's girlfriend. I told him it was a load of rubbish because she doesn't even live in this area.
