If any premiership scounts were there on Friday, I cant say on that performance they would have gone away with bulging notebooks, unless they were looking at Tyson.

Now there is someone I would break the transfer record on.......class act

I dunno about any Prem scouts but the U-21's assistant was there having an eyeball.

Looking at other forums, quite a few other fans like Cox and would like him in their team.

I can't say I'm surprised.

I think he's given an unnecessarily hard time on here. Week in, week out, he puts in the hard work, makes himself available, rarely gives the ball away - aside from crosses (of which he puts in plenty - as is asked of him), knows how to play a decent through-pass and he has a fair whack of pace about him.

He uses them all to good effect. He's nowhere near the finished article, but just because we have high expectations of him, and we know what's coming, it doesn't follow that opposing fans know what's coming. At a time in the second half on Friday when the team looked weary and stuck for ideas, Cox kept going and going. Managers and scouts and opposing see that and appreciate what he's trying to do for his team.

Put it this way, I'd far rather have him on our side than playing against us.

Well articulated TLO.

If he did leave in January, I can't really see him travelling to far at such a young age, and Reading do like to sign up all the good young English players (Lita, Sidwell etc.)

I could be completly wrong, or he might stay who knows.
Coppell knows all about the Albion youngsters so knows he can poach them from us. If a reasonable offer comes in DK wont turn it down. Reading took Sidwell , Henderson and Ingimarsson as they followed Coppell to the Madejski.

coppell hasnt poached, or indeed signed, one player from us

henderson was already at reading, and we showed no interest in signing him - hence he went to gillingham? sidwell was already there before coppell arrived, and ingimarsson would have signed for us had we of stayed up - we didnt, he went back to wolves, and coppell took him to reading when he was appointed there

he then signed brooker from leicester and steve hunt, who he tried to sign when here, from brentford

Why would the U-21's Assistant be having an 'eyeball' at Tyson who is 25?

I stand corrected , I thought the 3 of them ended up at Reading after Coppell took charge. Theres nothing to stop Coppell trying to get Elphick on the cheap in January as DK has to make a decision on what might be considered a reasonable offer although he may be worth more post season if we get into the championship.

coppell does have a record of signing players and giving them their break in the premiership - hunt, doyle, long being good examples

he never used any youth team players when here though, and i think he would be wary about signing a player who hasn't even had a full season in league one yet

Scouts earn their living watching matches and players, sometimes no-one in particular but if the only match being played is on Friday night in Brighton, that's where all the southern ones head.

Who could blame Elphick if he did go? His father's career was cut short by injury and his brother ended up at St Albans. However much I'd love him to lead the Albion for the next 10 years (he has the potential to be a far better captain than Hammond) if he gets the chance to move onwards and upwards then good luck to him. A footballer's career can be cut short at any time.

..and if we were offered £100k for Cox I'd say take it.
