I may be totally wrong, but weren't representatives from Reading at an Albion game recently, allegedly tracking Elphick? Seem to remember hearing it somewhere.

There are reps from all sorts of teams at every game. Including occasional managers. And Prem ones too. Could be any one of them.

How much did the Luton defender go for? How old was he, and after how many games? 3M wasnt it?
They sold Curtis Davies for £3m after a full season in League One and 6 games in the Championship, and Leon Barnett for £2.5m after one season in the Championship.

I don't why everyone is so keen to flog off all our youngsters for peanuts whenever any speculation comes up. £100k, £500k, I would be DISGUSTED if we sold Elphick (or Lynch, or Cox) for so little. Is it because we got ripped off with Zamora? I just don't get it.

Abort, retry, fail
Elphick, Lynch et al - These guys are the future of Brighton. We may as well close our doors if we are to sell our stars. Thankfully, I would imagine this is just a rumour. Decent performances, scouts at games etc. - People are going to put two and two together to make five. I dread to think what would happen to our attendances if we were to lose some key players.

My thoughts exactly. I honestly believe that these two (and a few of the other youngsters) could be helping us fight towards the upper end of the champoinship in a few years time.

Looking at other forums, quite a few other fans like Cox and would like him in their team.

But the club may need the money?
Since we lose on every Withdean game and the average gate is down by 1,000 (say) this season then there's an additional shortfall (assuming a ticket price of £20) of approx £20,000 per game = £460,000 for the season. All very topline and full of assumptions sure but unless something, someone or the bank is funding this, then some money needs to be found.
Regrettable if we have to sell anyone but just look around the division over the past 2-3 weeks - Bournemouth, Luton, Swindon?

Which was why Currie, Virgo and Harding (although he was always going) had to be sold.

The Pompey scout was at Withdean on Friday.
