El abd sums up a lot about what is wrong in the game. However, it is a big part of the game now. So every team needs its El abds, until the rulemakers start to make a regular example of such behaviour.

you have got to be f***ing joking........after entertaining the likes of brown and varney. and actually the whole leeds team ...
.it's called gamesmanship mate you cant buy it you cant get taught it ........you either got it or you aint.... we aint......FACT.

This thread is bollocks. The fans spend all match trying to wind up the opposition and the louder we do it the better "fans" we are. Yet El-Abd winds up a few players and he's called a cheat?

Personally, I love El-Abd's attitude and the fact he gives everything he's got to help the Albion.

All AEA needs to do now is learn how to pass the ball forwards ..........

.........and bring the ball out himself when theres acres of space infront of him, not just kick it to Bridcutt who usually has marker breathing down his neck.

This.

And while Wood mostly outjumped El-Abd and held the ball up well, there were many occasions when El-Abd snuck round Wood to get the ball before him. It did help with the eventual implementation the simple tactic of placing someone behind Wood and someone in front of him when a goal-kick / free-kick / long ball came his way. Wood, good though he was, didn't have it all his own way.

No, no it's not.

There are two things being discussed now and people seem to be confusing them. To my mind:

1. The wind-ups. He's very good at this, is within the laws of the game and it's very funny to watch.

2. The play acting. He's so-so at this, is outside the laws of the game and is utterly embarrassing to watch. It also means that, for as long as he's doing it, we have absolutely no moral highground when faced with opposition divers and fakers.

Personally, I love El-Abd's attitude and the fact he gives everything he's got to help the Albion.

I love him to bits too, but I'd love him more if he cut out the cheating shit.

Makes me cringe too. Apart from that he's another sending off waiting to happen if we get a ref who takes exception to it. I can't help thinking it's done to make up for the fact he is possibly at his limit in this league and may be struggling ability-wise to contain these forwards by fair means. Continues to live and breathe Albion though so seems a shame to criticise him.

That's the funny thing. He's a crap actor.
Some of the others are a bit more proficient. Barnes has learnt from his mentor - FFS, Buckley and CMS could do with a bit more work on their swallow dives.
I'll sign up to the EL Abd fan club too but his play acting is a little embarrassing.

The fact that he is an almost ever-present in the centre of defence in a team that has conceded just 23 goals in 23 games (only Leicester have a better defensive record, with 21) would suggest otherwise.

He also only has 3 bookings so far this season. Not perfect, but its a long way from "struggling". I think El Abd has proved he is perfectly capable at this level (as long as he is kept at CB).

Man up? What are you talking about? I don't like seeing Brighton players cheat, does that make me a big girl?

Hey come on, i never called you a girl. Just a soft man (im kidding).

All i mean is that every team has a player like ElAbd, some teams packed full of the,. I actually think you need a bit of this to get ahead and win things

I agree. But, do you think his winding up helps or hinders his game? I'm starting to think the latter and yesterday's game was a good example.

I think we need to remember that "winding up" is a part of the defender's armoury. However, this is done to distract the striker and, at times, causes equal distraction. I think Adam is an absolute legend and Mr Albion in my book, keep on winding them up but keep your own concentration!

Agree so much with this. A mans game hardly applies any more. Wimps and cheats in many cases! (Not you Adam )
