Sad day yesterday as Isthmian League stalwarts East Thurrock went into liquidation. Millionnaire entrepreneur turns up in helicopter, promises the fans the world, then liquidates the club within months. Just so happens to run a park homes company. Quite easy to join the dots there. Used to live near the ground, have refereed there and one of my old colleagues used to be their manager and it was a great community club. Very sad indeed

My condolences, sadly a not uncommon occurance in non league football.

A similar thing happened to my childhood club Staines Town, founded in 1892, dissolved in 2022. 130 years of history down the swanny.
