Earphones for an IPOD

Ok I am about to take delivery of an IPOD from my son.

The headphones that went with it are kaput and so I need to invest in a set.

My budget is say no more than £60.

What I want is:

- Reasonable sound with good bass and treble.

- A good snug fit in my earoles.

- Limited escape of noise so the whole train cannot smirk if I listen to Showaddywaddy or summat simlar.

Any recommendations?

Get the Senheiser CX 400s They're about 50 quid and are absolutely OUTSTANDING.

They come with a nice litttle pouch and a choice of 3 rubber in ear thingys so they'll always fit. Very comfortable, noise cancelling is quality (especially in a loud office or on the train)

Relaly can't recommend them enough!

I have Senheiser CX 300s for my ipod and they are brilliant - agree about the nice pouch too

I bought some CX 500s, not actually noise cancelling but background noise reduction good enough not to need the volume so high, sometimes use them just as earplugs if the whiney voiced women in my office get too annoying, CX 500s have a little volume control slider which I find very handy. Bought some CX 300s from 7 day shop too (for my lad and daughter) they are very good but not as good bass as the 500s. They all came with a choice of three ear rubbers and a carrying pouch. I paid £70 for mine from Richer Sounds I reckon you could get them cheaper on line.

Sennheiser's all the way, cheap on Amazon but watch for fakes. The buds pinged off mine a little while ago so might have to invest in some higher grade ones as got the CX100's last time, really good though, with very little leakage and great sound quality.

i've got some sony ones for 15 quid. I've never tried these sen-ones people are mentioning, but am sceptical how much difference there can be in little headphones.

SHURE SE110's for me (around £50)- when transcribing Manager's mumblings and Players' pronouncements in the back of a noisy car (606 up loud) on a noisy motorway - they are the only things that cut the mustard.

Trouble is I then can't hear what the rest of the car are saying about me :(

Agree about the Sennheisers. The only slight pain is you'll probably lose the little rubber earpieces at some point.

It doesn't matter though, because with the money you've got left over from you £60, invest in some Comply Foam Tips. They're the same sort of material as earplugs. Squish them down, and then they expand inside the ear to block out all noise except your iPod. Brilliant. So much better for your hearing too because on trains, planes etc you can just have your iPod on normal volume and still hear every word.

Please do not get the 400's, the 300 mark 2's are much better for the money.

Ive tried both and I think the 300 mk 2 are the best headphones Ive ever had. Great bass and treble.
