Seeing Stoke sitting on the top of the table after two good results
got me wondering how we would have done had we stayed up.

I've thought all along that we would probably have struggled but now I'm not so sure. For the last 2 months of last season we looked like a Div 1 team and competed well most games. If the intense pressure to climb the table had not been there we may have relaxed more and been more succesfull.

BZ may have stayed and if we had signed Knight I feel we would have had an excellent chance of mid table obscurity especially if Ivar could have been persuaded to come back on loan.

All hypothetical I know, but how do you think we would have done?

First season after getting promoted is always the hardest, although the season before last disproves this theory. The aim nearly always has to be for consolidation, try and stay up if possible, then make a few astute signings and give it a bigger go the following season.

As for heading in the opposite direction, you always want to bounce straight back up again, or at least make a good fist of fighting for promotion, the greatest fear is that you keep heading downwards.

I think we might have done better this season, had we avoided relegation, mid-table obscurity would not have been beyond us with the addition of the players you suggest. Sadly we were never allowed that opportunity, all we can hope for is the afforementioned swift return...
