He knew the score before he even signed.
In exactly the same way Connor and Uwe knew the score despite never letting the side down on the occasions they deputised.
That's not how football works as you play the form players and not favourites which it seems is a common factor here.

You need to tell CH who football works, he clearly hasn't got a clue.

We were saying this as soon as the team was announced

I too was surprised he started but that was because Chailey insisted he'd be back after the international break.

If everybody thought Dunk was ready, then Dunk was ready.
The moment he was ready he'd start.

Bizarre as it seems at left back Hughton is going with a "keep the shirt" mentality, and yet at CB the complete opposite.

Why is it bizarre.
CH based the entirety of last season on D, D, D & D.
Everybody else is interchangeable, but those 4 are the base everybody else is attached too.

Seems to be a theme of late with our Chris.

Continues with the likes of Solly March, week in week out, despite a spate of poor performances (both this season and last).

Yet Balagun who performed admirably loses his place as soon as Dunk has a sniff off a return.

Seems to have some kind of loyalty to the class of 2016/17. A little understandable but if we want to continue growing as a football club then there can be no room for sentiment.

Everyone forgetting that ball which led to Liverpool's goal? Mitrovic is a top striker who will run a lot of defenders ragged.

Wrong on many levels the main being the message to Dunk (and Duffy) that, injuries/suspension aside, you're guaranteed to start. Which isn't healthy.

Was it unhealthy last season?

Even if they're not the best.
They work as a pair best at the moment, on their day, but Not necessarily the best players in their positions, and so far this season, nothing to shout about.

It’s the same reason CH dropped Goldson back to the bench post-Watford last year despite him being the best player on the pitch that day. If Dunk and Duffy are fit then they play as they’re first choice, end of.

Personally thought Dunk was brought back too early and would have benefited with missing this week and returning at Southampton.

The more interesting one for me on do favourites come straight back in, is Bruno. Given how Montoya has slotted into the team, I wouldn't be rushing to bring Bruno back in, and would expect that the most that Bruno can look forward to is being named among the bench players, unless Montoya gets injured or suspended.

Definitely.

As said earlier, I think as much as the 4 D's are the first 4 names on the team sheet, everybody else's position is up for grabs.

Bruno won't be back anytime soon.
Neither Izzy or Andone (assuming they haven't past) will be straight in either, despite what NSC thinks tonight the queue for starting winger is long and impressive.
While I sit here in my wrongness concerning Murray, who by 01.09 has already surpassed my expectations of him this season. (I was that wrong).

With hindsight has to be the case...Dunk looked really off the pace and Mitrovic gave him a torrid time.

Bruno has next to no chance of displacing Montoya on current form, and given Bernardo is (allegedly) able to play all across the back 4 and we know Balogun is very capable at CB I can’t see Bruno even being on the bench.
