Guess him staying or going depends if Potter see's Veltman as specifically a right back, Burn to continue at left back, and how much we'll be playing with 3 centre backs. Because if those things happens then without Duffy it leaves us with Dunk, White, and Webster as the options & that feels a bit light if we're going to consistently playing the 3 centre backs & wing backs formation.

Him going might depend on getting this LB in, because with that complete it free's up Burn for more centre back cover.

Normally annoys me when people try and read things into body language but given we know he went to Celtic, his applause to the fans at the end did have more than a hint of goodbye about it.

He deserves better than bench warming here. Great to see him in a Brighton shirt again tho

Mail suggesting it’s happening. Shame but understandable for all. Although if they aren’t picking up all his wages as I’ve seen suggested, I’d rather he went permanently. Trust the club.

Think the loan signals the end of our Edouard pursuit, if there indeed was one, as we’d have surely sorted a permanent transfer for Duffy there if we were getting Edouard - I’m sure the question / possibilities were discussed if we were in for him.

I'd rather he went to Celtic, we don't want to play against him. This, with Duffy's wish to go there, means we may be happy with the loan.

Gutting to see him go isn't it? Even on Saturday I bloody loved seeing him on the pitch. But he deserves football, absolutely loves Celtic, clearly, so good luck to the lad.
True Albion legend IMHO.

A loan would give us the option to assess where we are after the season and if we want to retain him and use him here. Plus he won’t be helping a rival. Good move all round.

This one will sting, I hope we accommodate the move for him even if the loan fee is not quite what we were after originally.

Totally agree, he is a top quality defender, deserves first team football, just not a potter player.

I hope Potter goes on to be very successful here for years to come. But if for any reason he is not here in the not to distant future, many other managers I'm sure wouldn't mind having someone of Duffy's quality at their disposal.

Loan seems the most sensible, just hope we're not paying his wages in part

This. Amazing player for us in the Championship and Premier League alongside Dunk however our current brand of football doesn't suit him. He's too good a player to sit on the bench and only coming on as an injury replacement or when Andy Carroll gets thrown on against us for the last 10 minutes.

Maybe loan him out after our second game then

“The experienced defender could make his Celtic debut away to Ross County after the international break.”

Wow. What a step down.

He could play with a blindfold in that fixture and still be the best player on the pitch!

Wonder what odds are on Duffy becoming one of Celtic's top scorer end of season?!

If true has to go with all our blessings been a proper warrior for us at the back and helped keep some pubs and bars solvent to boot.

Remember the amount of stick the club got when we bought him, media pundits laughing at his own goals for Blackburn.

Where's the know it all's now!?
