The market will be extra 'overheated' in January with 3 or 4 teams throwing money at Middlesbrough to get Rhodes.

The sentiment and logic is there to be seen and difficult to dispute.

1) "Nobody reads the Argus" - tens of thousands do.
2) A £10m striker guarantees you promotion from the Championship. Ask Fulham. Poor old Fulham.
3) We missed out on promotion because we didn't buy a £10m striker. - we lost out on promotion by two goals. It could have been anything . Why the striker. Why not our defence, our left back , our luck, that ref not sending off Joey Barton.

there you go. disputed. Easy.

If we had signed a striker like Rhodes in January he would have done for us what he did for Boro and helped get them promoted.

Rhodes scored fewer goals than Hemed last season.

And when Middlesbrough signed Rhodes they were top of the table, 4 points clear of Burnley and 5 clear of Brighton, despite having a game in hand.

He didn't help them win promotion; he almost ****ed it up.

Never let the facts get in the way of a good agenda though

There may come a time when CH wants to play a back three and ours could be truly awesome.

What he did do was score a few late goals to earn them points in the run in, which secured promotion. He did exactly what they bought him to do.

As did Hemed, Zamora and Wilson.

Rhodes was so essential for Boro that didn't even play for em against us in that final game.

You're on firmer ground arguing about our lack of defensive / midfield options/depth over Christmas/NY but at end of the day it was 2 goals. Ridiculous to say that it was this or that with absolute certainty. It could have been anything.

No he didn't. Jordan Rhodes scored 6 goals for Boro, only 2 could be described as "late" and one of those was in February. Both James Wilson and Tomer Hemed got the same number of late goals for us in the run-in as Jordan Rhodes did for Boro.

Sorry my mistake I should have said during the loan window to have covered that bad period over December early January, when we dropped too many points.
The loan window closed in the last weekend of November. Clubs don't just loan out very valuable players of the ilk of Rhodes for a couple of months. The options available to us consisted of players like James Wilson, who was actually very useful until his form and fitness seemed to depart him in January.

Some of the slating of Duffy vs Brentford really should've been aimed at Bruno - I love the Spaniard, but he was ATROCIOUS that day, and left Duffy massively exposed a number of times.
