Several years ago I went interrailing around Europe and during a 32 hour journey on a rickety old Bulgarian train that had broken down in southern Serbia on its way to Istanbul I received a text message from my brother in law in Sweden that my sister (his wife) had just given birth to my first niece. Perhaps delirious from the heat (it was about 34 degrees and the carriages weren't air conditioned) I decided nuts to the obscene roaming charges I'd incur to call him up and explained to the carriage full of backpackers I was sharing with the situation I'd just been presented with.

"Do you know Cliff Richard's Congratulations?" I asked.

Shortly after, four Austrians, two Croatians, two Australians, an Italian, a Serbian, a German and myself were shouting down my phone a very loud and out of tune rendition of said song to my entirely bewildered brother in law.

That call probably cost me the best part of £30 but it was worth every penny.
