My mother took nine ! My father took his test in 1937 and was told 'You aren't very good but you should improve'. Trouble was he didn't, he was a dreadful driver and like most men, didn't think he was.

1st time back in 1994 I think, examiner was a SCUM fan and he said at the end "I hate to say this to a Brighton fan but you've passed!"

was wearing my Sandtex top at the time!

You think that is bad, I took my Canadian drivers licence in Labrador, the test comprised driving the examiner to a bakery so he could buy his lunch and then going straight back to his office. The worst bit was the computer wouldn't recognise my signature, even though it hasn't changed in years, I ended up pretty much printing my name so it would scan properly. The stupid thing was when he showed me my original signature on his little screen it was exactly as it was supposed to be.
