I learnt with Viv Melfi, lives near Preston Park way, really nice bloke who boopboodidoops s you drive along and regales you with the days when he used to be a session musician and travelled the country.

I passed my first test with him (after failing 3 times with other instructors) and my Sister passed first time in short shrift. I dont have his number to hand but will find it out if interested.

I was taught to drive by a musician too - can't recall his name but his company (one yellow mini) was called The Not Exceedingly Large University of Motoring. Anyone remember his name?

He once got out of the car when I kept stalling on Hove Park Road to lambast a driver behind who kept hooting his horn. I remember him shouting that there probably wasn't a test when the poor old chap he was laying in to got his licence.

I am a driving instructor (though sadly based up in North London so no good for your o/h's requirements).

Might like to move back down one day soon but if you are looking for one in the immediate future that ex-session musician guy sounds like the perfect tonic!! Friendly and decent standard.

You should be able to get lessons for £20 or a little above with a good instructor either way though.

Me too, with Ted at XL. Both my daughters, both of my sisters in law & my best mate from school (35 years ago). Ted has an outstanding record of first time passes also. Terrific laugh and really puts you at ease.

Billingtons driving school, im using it at the moment and its been top notch. Really nice bloke who's into his football etc so something to talk about, and is a good instructor at the same time. Its £23 an hour, but for every person i reccommend at the moment i get £25 cash.

A very good friend of mine is a driving instructor. He lives in Peacehaven but covers the Brighton area. If you block book with him, the first 10 lessons work out at £18 / hour and there after it goes up to £20 / hour for the next 10 hour blocks.

I am happy to give out his details if tou PM me.
