They're ok, but you never get the feeling that you've got your moneys worth.
I did the rallying thing at Brands Hatch a few years ago and it was great fun, but overall you got about 10 mins driving and it was £90ish.
I accept that these people are in the business of making money and they have insurances and upkeep to pay etc but i've always felt a little underwhelmed at the end

I did the rallying thing at Brand's Hatch a few years ago and loved every second of it. I certainly had longer than 10 mins driving.

Mind you, I didn't pay as it was a 40th birthday present, so I got my money's worth whichever way you look at it...

Seen a few people driving round the track at the McClaren test centre - don't know whether that was just for testing though - looked like fun anyway!

I was sent on one some years back by my employer as part of some 'team building bullshit' between the management & workers. Pointless exercise as most of the day was spent in a classroom with about an half hour driving a go cart around Brands Hatch.

We spent the time on the track trying to run the managers off when the marshals weren't nearby. Everyone still hated each other at the end of the day.

errrr.... thats not really what we're talking about here is it?

For what its worth BoF, having done a one car jobby at Goodwood and and a 4 car one at Bruntingthorpe I would strongly advise getting the latter type if you can possibly stretch to it (or maybe go in with someone else if not)?

The one car was alright but you really are over and done with so quickly, long before you're used to the track or a fast car. The other major thing is that his potential enjoyment is totally at the mercy of the instructor, get a bad one (or one on a bad day), and it'll be shithouse.

With the 4 car thing i spent most of the time in the first car getting used to the speed and most importantly the circuit which meant that I had a great time in the other 3 cars. I was also really lucky that when driving the Ferarri at the end the instructor was a top lad and let me shoot round the inside of all the slow cars (when in reality you should wait till the instructor of the car in front has indicated it is safe to pass), otherwise I would pretty much have wasted the whole time trundling along at speeds i can do in my road car!

The multiple car one just ensures he should get at least 2 of those cars being feckin brilliant, even if the others are spoiled by slow drivers or bad instructors. Good luck
