Ive got to get to the Channel Tunnel from Newhaven next Wednesday - would it be best along the coast or up the M23 and down the M20?

m23 and m20 is the way we go on our "booze cruises" - not sure if that would be the best option from newhaven though

if you do go that way, make sure you leave with plenty of time!

I would use the motorways as that A259 via Rye etc it very slow.

Normally come back that way after daytrip for cod and chips at Rye.

Why dont you turn right at the A274 and then join up with the A4904 by that little pub and then you can get to the M20 pretty easily from there!

We always go M23/M25/M20 whenever we use the Tunnel. Hastings to Ashford is single carriageway.

The AA Route Planner advice is go via Hastings and Rye:-

From: Newhaven,East Sussex
To: Channel Tunnel,Kent
Distance: 70.2 miles
Time: 1 hr 41 min

Via the M23 etc:-
From: Newhaven,East Sussex
Via: M23
To: Channel Tunnel,Kent
Distance: 108.1 miles
Time: 1 hr 55 min

I guess the difference is whether you prefer your average speed to be 41.7 mph, via Rye, or 56.4 mph, via the motorways, with an extra 37.9 miles thrown in.
