On holiday with his wife on the Greek island of Symi, MM hasn't been since setting off on a walk into the island's interior yesterday.

Hoping he's found alive and well.

I really like his work, I listened to one of his R4 shows this very morning.

Is it typical for people to go missing on this Greek island and show up later?

Not the sort of guy to stumble out of a night club and spend the night in someone else's hotel room I feel.

His phone has been found in the place he was staying by his wife.

I’d have taken a phone with me for a walk in a foreign island.

Just read somewhere that the fear is he maybe might have fainted and fallen off a cliff, as temperatures were about 35c and it would have caused dehydration if he didn't have water. Being a doctor you would have thought he would have known about these issues.

I ate super slowly this evening as a result of said show.

It is very odd he wandered off the beach with no mobile in 40 degree heat

Sounds like neither he nor his wife had their mobiles. I suppose not everyone is wedded to them like most of us. Perhaps they just deemed it inconvenient and unnecessary at the beach. Hope we get some good news soon but it's difficult to be optimistic now.

I’m “wedded to my phone” as you say however I’ve just had a week in Spain and my phone was off and locked in the safe for the duration.

The point I’m making is I don’t find it in the slightest bit odd that he didn’t have his phone.

I had (wrongly) assumed he was going for a long explorative walk of remote parts of the island, which is why I found it strange he did not for a phone.

If it was just a short walk nearer to the beach, then it is not as strange as it first appeared to me.
