I decided to have a look at Google Chrome.

Following the banner at the top of NSC I hit the download button.

In a few seconds my computer screen just goes blank and at the bottom it say 'done'.

Is there a setting on my computer that's blocking it (Windows conspiracy theory).

Have a look at ChromePlus or SRWare Iron as they are built using the same code as Chrome but removes all of Google's data mining nonsense.

You have successfully downloaded it. You haven't done anything with that download though, it'll be sitting in your downloads folder waiting to be run. Go to whichever folder it is that things normally download to and there will be a file there to click, the icon looks a bit like the game "simon"

Nope its not there, and a search of the computer fails to find it.

why don't you make a new folder on your computer desktop, and download it again, into that?

Do you have a second computer? You could use that to download it to a memory stick, and try installing it from that

or forget about downloading it as your problems could be a sign from Bill, that Chrome was sent down as the dark angel of browsers

I am having problems with Seagulls Player, in that any streamed video stutters every 5 ot 6 seconds. The suppliers of SP have suggested about 10 ways to fix it without success. They are now recommending opening SP using Chrome, but I cant do that eiher.
