Pair Fraser with a decent ball player until Livermore can slot back into the team and I think we would be ok.

Keep playing El Abd centre mid and we will go down.

I just think at best, at very best, El Abd is someone to have in the squad and slot in for the odd game when we have bad injuries or suspensions.

Fraser I can see playing more of a regular role from the bench.

But you are right, at present neither should be commanding a first team slot on a weekly basis if we want to progress.

I do however think Fraser will get better. El Abd won't.

Maybe Loft does deserve a chance, he hasn't had that many, Robinson however has had more chances than anyone and has continually failed to deliver, sooner we see him off the books the better, waste of wages.

I may be wrong but I think the last time Loft started a game was against Man Cşity and he played well.... since then he has largely been ignored even though he constantly shines in the reserves. Now I know reserves are easier... but he outplays players in the reserves who go straight back into the first team. What does that say to a player?

Yep Loft definitely worth a game or two but as a winger, out wide where he is best, he's not a defensive midfielder and can't really tackle but then looking at the way that bloke ran straight through our midfield on Saturday for the 2nd goal neither can anyone else. 4 at the back, 2 defensive midfield, 2 attacking wide midfield/wingers - 1 being Loft, 2 up front (one of whom must be physically strong/tall and the other fast! = Foster/Murray!!!!??

Loft had a superb game against Northampton and Man City, but he has been surplus to requirements ever since thanks to Micky. I would like to see Loft get a game tonight, because Mcleod was awful on Saturday, and didn't give us anything on the left wing.

I've not seen Loft have a bad game when he's been given the chance, to be honest, so would like to see him given more time on the pitch.

With Jake also, I just keep thinking of that purple patch he had when he got the hat-trick at Huddersfield and also his performance in the televised game at Orient and can't help thinking that there's a great player in there somewhere. He just needs a manager who believes in him, and sadly, we haven't had one of those at the Albion for a while it seems.

I'd like to see both given a run in the team, as they would hopefully be playing for their careers and might put in some better performances as a result. If they don't, then at least they'd have had that chance.

Fraser was our best player on saturday. And people don't appreciate that we need someone in the middle to tackle and play simple balls then they should f*** off and watch the premiership

We'll release Robinson at the end of the season, and he'll go to a good League Two side and show us what we missed out on because no manager could give him a DECENT run out.

I have a lot of time for El-Abd. I've always been quite cynical about Fraser but he's looked okay in the last few games. He's never going to be a world-beater, but with a proper run in the team I don't think he's going to be a bad player.

The problem is we can't play them together, since they are both what people would describe as "workers", neither have any class.

We desperately need someone of Richard Carpenter's ilk. It just shows how bloody amazing he was for us, not only did he score goals, create goals and start moves, he was also everywhere and a great shield for the back four. It seems that now our players are one or the other.

As for Loft and Robinson. As far as I'm concerned Robinson can't leave fast enough. He's had so many chances but he is definetely going backwards. It's a shame, he could have been a good player (as the Huddersfield hattrick showed), but he just hasn't progressed enough and his confidence is shattered. I don't understand why Loft is being so ignored. Much as he was previously a bit of a joke, he really has looked pretty good to me on the few occasiona I've seen him. Considering he's barey played professional football he looks like he could be a really good player. I don't understand why he isn't given the chances players like Fraser get.

Yep, I agree. But I will say one thing in Fraser's defence. In this very depressing time it's unrealistic to think we could put out a midfield that doesn't include Fraser or El Abd. And, in my opinion, we can win a match with Tommy Fraser in midfield but we will never win a match with Adam El Abd in midfield. The reason I say that is that the reason Fraser is a bit rubbish is because he's anonymous and lightweight. He doesn't actually have a negative effect, he just has no effect. He doesn't try anything special but at least what he does try he does fairly quickly and without any monumental f*** up. The rest of the team can go on playing around him without him holding them back. I think El Abd is FAR more of a hindrance because he actually slows the game down. Whether it's his casual strolling around, ponderous approach, or painfully slow passing, he's slowing the team down. He gives the opposition time to regroup, and often when the pass does come he'll play it short or just give it away.

To me, if the whole team is a series of cogs, Fraser is a tiny one that spins around quite happily while not bothering anyone but El Abd is a central one which is a different shape to everyone else and brings a crushing halt to the whole operation.

El-abd is far from ponderous or casual. I know a few of the brighton boys and they all say that they hate playing against him in training because he is the most 'in your face' defender and never lets you rest. They also say that along with Forster, he is the most professional member of the squad and is completely devoted to his conditioning and job.

Granted he is not George Best, but he is a defensive midfielder who gets the rap for the likes of lazy fat wingers we had playing saturday who are so unfit they do not track back at all (and rarely offer any forward motion for that matter). I think that Makalele would struggle in his position playing for brighton.

Exactly. In your face DEFENDER. Not centre midfield player.

And as for the professionalism, I would argue telling your own fans to F**k off after a shambolic defeat, being seen down the Casino on a regular basis and being, shall we say, heavy handed with younger squad members who would not join in card schools is far from professional...

If you were in his shoes what would you do? Refuse to play out of position? I doubt it.

Your telling me that those fans didnt tell him to f*** off first? I take it you have actually seen him at the Casino on a regular basis have you? Again doubt it..i doubt if anyone has seen him at the Casino regularly.

I am not saying I would not want him in the squad to slot into defence if needed and of course he is going to play where he is told.

But the point we were arguing is Adams should not be playing him centre midfield. More a criticism of the manager than the player.
