Does the article mention our part in winning the FA Cup:-

I, for one, enjoy the journey as much as the destination.

Completely agree that it's been super frustrating, as we've been so good. But it's been a really memorable season. It's been really exciting to see how we've played, and the rise of the likes of Sanchez, Lamptey, Webster, White, Moder, Veltman... and the arrival of Welbeck & Lallana.

I've enjoyed this season a lot. It's obviously been majorly tarnished by the absence of fans, but I still finding myself looking forward to the last two games, even though we'll probably lose, if only to see our talent developing.

I fear you are going to be disappointed next season too. It would be amazing if we could set the league on fire, but it's probably more the case of baby steps, as we lose our best players, but see our next rising starlets establish themselves (Zeqiri, Karbownic, Caicedo and others).

This is the proper way to run a football club, rather than relying on an old guard. It's going to be a long journey, but I'm absolutely confident the end destination will be worth it, as long as we can keep hold of Potter.

Great post - I'm 100% with you.

His bottom line is to move the Albion above a perennial relegation threatened bottom 6 team.
Ideally in a pretty fashion while making some money on the way.

WHICH IS WHY LEAGUE POSITION IS IMPORTANT!! (I can't believe that has to be shouted)

I honestly do not understand the mentality of people who think the league position is irrelevant. Even if you boil it down to league positions make prize money and finishing 15th means £x million more for that striker. When people look back they notice you finish 17th, they don't care whether you finished above 18th by 11 points or 1 goal, you were the team which was the worst team not relegated that season in terms of results.

If Brighton had finished in 14th position rather than 15th last year, the losses would have been around £65m instead of £67m. A real gamechanger.

This is an absolute nonsense post.

Almost every team in the Premier League has had a poor (by their respective standards) home record this season. Sheffield United’s tanked. Liverpool lost SIX in a row at home, having not lost any in years. Even THE Leeds lost at home to teamslikeBrighton.

But in our case, rather than the form being affected by the absence of fans, it was a ‘bonus’, because there was nobody there to get on the manager’s back?

.

Sadly people keep using the home form anomaly as a stick to beat the manager with. As you say, in this covid hit season all clubs home form has suffered. It’s almost as if with no fans allowed in part of the advantage is lost. Nah, can’t be that. Porter out.

Whilst ignoring the rather good away form.....

No doubt we’d have lost far more away games with fans in the stadium whilst losing more home games with a toxic atmosphere at home

Relegation certainties with fans in the stadium no doubt.

Clown.

This is spot on. We've lost five games at home - two of them were games where we absolutely battered the opposition, one was lost to an uncharacteristic goalie error and one was lost to a very dodgy penalty in the last ten minutes. By contrast, Everton - who have probably spent about four or five times as much on salaries as we have - have just lost their ninth home game. Are the fans calling for the manager's head? No, in fact I've seen suggestions that he could be in line for the RM job when Zidane goes.

Man City, Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa, Leicester, Leeds, Everton, Brighton, Burnley and Fulham all have move points away from Home than at Home. That's 12 of the 20 teams. The betting rarely, if ever, takes into account Home advantage in the current markets.

Assuming that crowds are back next year, I'm prepared to bet some of my body parts that the number of teams with better records away than at home will be significantly lower.

Lol well actually I think you’ll find 3 home wins all season is very good!

And a team who finished stone last in the Premiership also had terrible home form! Stay tuned for more stunning insights, this is why NSC is great

Also, no need to sign your posts, we know it’s you

Quick bounce after last night, just in case anyone needed reminding of how wrong you (generally) are.

Because we’d definitely have come back from 2 goals down against the best team in Europe in a sterile empty stadium.

Yes because playing against 10 men was the completely unimportant factor right

Of course it was a huge factor.

Just as 8,000 people screaming for a red, undoubtably was a factor in them going down to 10.

No he got sent off because the Manchester City defender made a mistake, not because of collective will power

Because the crowd reaction has no conscious or subconscious bearing on the decisions of a match official?

Quite apart from the glaring evidence of the results across this season’s premier league, there’s a wealth of research proving you wrong. Again.

I mean, the ref who took the final decision on the sending off was miles away from the ground. The spittle you are putting on the keyboard with YOU'RE WRONG is very comical given the level of your arguments

We had 3 massive decisions go our way last night

- The sending off, another day you don't get it, in football parlance it was a bit soft.
- Ali J could easily have got a Red. High tackle and all that.
- That Lallana tackle in the box in the last minute. I'm sure they wanted to give it but didn't dare after review.
- I thought the Burn goal was offside, it definitely wasn't. The sort of pre VAR decision that goes against you as Burn is so big.

There's no way we get all those decisions in an empty stadium. We've seen all season the big club bias from refs. Funnily enough, there's less of it with fans in your ear.
