I have just been told by somebody in Haywards Heath who reckons that he is ITK that Gus went and had talks with Villa last week before flying out to the Caribbean but turned down a chance of the job because they offered him personally less wages and a smaller budget than he has at Brighton.

I dont believe it on 2 fronts that (a) Villa would offer less than us (b) Gus is man of integrity and wouldnt have done so without TBs approval.

Has anyone heard similar as it hasnt been reported in the media and I am sure they would have been aware of any approach.

If he has had talks with Villa already then those that I know who are in the know at Villa Park know nothing of it although they do profess to know that he is on the short list of those that the club's owner is known to be interested in

Gus is currently 12/1 for the Villa job. He is also 40/1 for Chelsea, Liverpool or WBA. I'm pretty certain that Gus has a lot more sense than your 'source' is giving him credit for. Why would he leave The Albion at this point in time? Gus is not ready for the Premier League just yet-he will be when we go up. Then we can start taking these rumours a bit more seriously. Until then, unless it is Chelsea or Liverpool which isn't going to happen for a few years, Gus is going nowhere. He knows that the wrong move now could ruin his reputation and there are plenty of examples of good managers who moved too soon and are now never going to manage in the Premier League.

Of course he wouldn't do it withouth Bloom's approval, he would be breaching his contract. And of course Villa will not have a smaller transfer budget than us.

So basically you've been told a bullshit story that even you don't believe, but you thought you'd post it anyway.

You may well be right but then that brings up two new jobs that, no doubt, Gus will linked to.
