Do any of you fine folks have experience of eating there recently? If so, what's the food like and would you recommend it?
there are much better places to eat than there, but its cheap and cheerful, and if thats all you expect of it, then it is fine
I much prefer Topolino Duo on Church Rd. They have a big tv screen and will show all football matches, if you are ever stuck for somewhere to watch the football and eat. Their pizzas are far superior to Donatello.
Where would you recommend Mr. Mendoza?
I've heard it's fantastic...
And DK regularly dines there with people that are way out of our league...
apparently.
Avoid.
Particularly if in a large group, hoping to impress someone or visiting at a busy time. Food is poor and service is just as bad. For somewhere run by a real Italian, it certainly doesn't come accross like that when visiting.
Donatello Brighton - Restaurant Review and Information
There's a lot of less than satisfied customers reviewing it.
I would also stress that you should not be lured in by the staff of Opposition restaurant near by. Food is average, service poor and you're likely to end up in an argument with the management with regard to pricing errors on the bill.

If you are talking about Fat Leo, then it is owned by the Addis family as well.
Absolutely, FAR better than Donatellos. We had (one) of my daughter's 18th parties in there a few years ago and it was brilliant - they couldn't have been more helpful.I much prefer Topolino Duo on Church Rd.
