I want to set up a web site and want a name. How does one go about doing this? There's a lot of companies selling em but how do you know if they are geniune?
And what do you get for the money ? Just a name ?

So many questions...........

You can register a domain name with 1&1 in no time. A .co.uk address is only £4.68 for 2 years there, others typically about £10 a year.

You get the name, and a control panel to point your 'name' at whichever webserver you have your website on.

We use Burton Hosting, they're pretty good, we get our Throbnozzle Web Site plus loads of email addresses etc. Its good and the support is ok, luckily I got a free copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver MX which is a piece of web software to build and maintain my pages - costs over a grand new...
