Doesn't "binfest" mean a thread is just getting good??

I'm noticing threads are getting locked either JUST when they are starting to get interesting, or just after they have finished being interesting.

By "interesting" I mean at least a couple of posters are getting to the nitty gritty of disagreement, berating each other with high iambics or low blows to the egos. The thrust and parry of wordmanship is shut down by some over-anxious moderator desperate to keep NSC mediocre, mor, fitting neither into intellect nor sub-intellect.

:censored: ???

Isn't it steering dangerously close to a Brightonfans.com style of gathering of eunuchs? :shootself

I was told by a "poster" to not engage in a disagreement with another member and simply take on board what they said without passing comment, now that is a load of bull.

Binfest's are not bad as long as the conversation is about the Albion and people are passionately arguing their view. It's when people with text like user names, ( He says wishing he never put a god dam 4 in his name!!!) start spouting utter nonsense and use phrases like "u mum" and insult various different things while some people are quite racist at times.

I do love a good binfest, but I much prefer them when the topic is " Glenn Murray, lazy bastard or not?" than topics like, " Oh Withdean Wanderer and vulture are such pricks" blah, blah, blah.

I do think there have been a few threads locked lately that would have been allowed to run their course in the past.

One certain Mod does seem to be taking upon himself to lock quite a lot of threads. What he doesn't seem to realise is he will ruin this board by doing so ! The OP is right brightonfans.com mkII is what we'll be left with !

who is e77 anyway?

who is e77 anyway?

Careful - the very mention of his name will cause eruptions in Mount Doom, he is one of Saruman's runners, and with whom he is well pleased

Saruman believes the eye of Sauron is watching him always, therefore he would quake if it were not for overzealous work from e77.

What's the origon or meaning of the bin in binfest?
The word is derived from Dr Jane Binner, Reader, Economics and Strategy Group at Aston Business School.

Dr Jane Binner, Reader, Aston Business School, Aston Univeristy

Research interests

Research interests involve the application of advanced multivariate techniques to a range of data types, particularly the econometric and time series analysis of macroeconomic and business data.

Projects include:

An investigation of the improved econometric performance of Divisia monetary aggregates when constructed using more sophisticated weighting mechanisms.
An investigation into the applicability of artificial intelligence techniques as a macroeconomic forecasting tool.
The application of dynamic game theory modelling to the retail sector.

Recent Books:

Divisia Monetary Aggregates: Right in Theory, Useful in Practice?

She once got into a long discussion with looney on the value that should be given to dynamic weightings in macroeconomic forecasting. It was this pivotal moment in the history of the internet that first gave rise to the term "binfest".

can anyone apply to be a moderator ?? only i fancy a go !!!! anyone ???

Mods are elected in a similar way to papal electorial practices , hence Hiney is known as "His Holiness". Once a mod , they have divine intervention.
