Gus will decide in time

Yes he will. i just think that writing off our keeper already is ridiculous. Also calling him "Flappergren" is extremely immature in my mind.

As for the second quote, as you well know I never expressed an opinion of him but just replied to someone saying Leeds fans regarded him as a hero by saying that may not be completely true. Having seen him play, I think he has done okay considering he had no pre season with the defence. He made one mistake but so do a lot of keepers, look at Reina last weekend for an example.

A couple of good saves and elbowed for there "goal" in a 2-1 win? Quite happy with him thanks!

Debatable about the goal. As for overall, ignoring the fact that it is two levels down, I would say Ankergren was a lot more confident in the air than Gomes looked in the Tottenham highlights.

Also, if you look at what Gomes was like when he first went to Tottenham and how much he is supposed to have improved (ignoring yesterday's game) surely that is an example of how goalkeepers need time. To write him off as rubbish after three games is a bit ridiculous.

Not really in modern day football (keepers get far to much protection)

Difference is he isnt new to English football.

I think the simple answer is yes he does as he is always talking to his defenders and telling them what to do and as regards yesterdays game I thought that he did all that was expected of him. He has to sort out with his central defenders when he is going to go for crosses like corners and when he is going to expect them to deal with it.

Please re-read the OP, I asked if he inspired your confidence.
At no time did I 'write off' Casper, if you think I did then that is your inference, i certainly did not imply that.
You have an opinion, I think it only fair that I am allowed one too without you being abusive.
Flappagren is a descriptive term combining my impression of his performance and his surname, hardly an unusual thing especially with regard to goalkeepers, e.g. Calamity James.
You seem to have a very defensive attitude about any criticism towards goalkeepers, perhaps you are/were one.
You have a record of calling people 'immature' or 'a miserable sod', perhaps you should think about that when accusing others of things you do not like.
Ankergren (happy now ?) is and was regarded as a flapper by Leeds fans, and they were not upset at his release.

So the question remains, and first impressions can have validity, especially combined with a known history.

Firstly, as I said before he signed he did not have a great reputation at Leeds but I prefer to give new signings a chance rather than writing them off. He clearly was a decent goalkeeper for them or he would have been allowed to leave before now. Also, he has only had our best centre back play in front of him for an hour so hardly time to write him off.

As for your original post, the fact that you called him Flappergren suggested to me that you don't rate him that highly. Yes, I have been defensive of keepers in the past, it is not because I was one just because there is a section on here that think Kuipers was god and never made mistakes and automatically slagged any other keeper off if they didn't have a perfect game. Sadly, this seems to have continued after Kuipers has left as Ankergren did nothing wrong yesterday but still gets criticised.

Finally, I stand by my original comment that calling him "Wankergren" or "Flappergren" is immature and pointless and to be honest if anything invalidates your opinion.

You do seem to have propensity to read what isn't there. Again where did I write him off.
The fact that I called him Flappagren, the reason as descibed previously, does indeed mean that I feel nervous when he has to deal with a cross. Do you get it, that's an opinion, I am allowed one. I never used the other term which is maybe uneccesary, but mildly amusing as a play on a name, as opposed to mine which is descrptive.
Yesterday on at least 2 occasions in the first half when taking a low cross/shot he palmed the ball forwards and onto the ground in a crowded area. Another example of why he makes me nervous.
Finally, because you dislike anothers opinion or the reason for it, then that invalidates it ! Well that is really mature.

Brighton & Hove Albion syndrome, make 1 mistake and you are crucified by the few until you leave the club. For Christ sake give the guy a chance and help him regain his confidence, not keep on bashing him.

I think he's pretty handy and could come really good. Watching the highlights he did look at fault for the goal though.

Any ball going across his goal is a worry. Brezovan made a few crazy errors but at least in between times he was solid and dominant. He can't come back soon enough for me.
