The nick is along the road, I can't believe they chose that area for a fight. :wozza:

Day of Aberdeen friendly at Withdean I believe... Yeh that hill seems v steep I'm surprised Brighton ran them up the hill for a bit...

It was the day of the Aberdeen match, some of them seem to keep stopping for a rest:D

They even have a sort of truce,at about 1:10 and a wounded one is allowed to leave the arena carried off with some help.

All very odd, the old bill must have been all down the Cake shop eating doughnuts seeing how long they took to arrive. :)

Sort of perfect place down there really quiet but right in the town centre, plenty of drinking holes, loads of rat runs wide open, right under the OB noses..and near to cake shops i suppose :lolol:

I've heard Luzzing plastic chairs is so 1990s, I see Luzzing roadwork barriers is now the weapon of choice:)

As for that video I have seen better fights when I was back in school, is that really what passes as hooliganism nowadays.

Thing is today it's seen as shocking and so forth and when i first started going in 1988 it was the towards the tail end of the holligan problem in this country but i agree, remember Leeds, West Ham, Wolves all with far greater numbers on both sides in pitched battles in West street,East Street and the laines, on the seafront and in and around town on a Friday and Saturday night, every other week there was always skirmishes.

I have never been involved in any football violence but had a fair few tear ups in pub/clubs. I have seen Millwall go at it a few times as I used to work in South Bermondsey right near the station. They used to both sort of line up and then steam into each other and they only ran if police came, they would then back off if anyone was down and injured and then kick off again. I was once saved by two of Millwalls finest when my young boy was being abused by a group of 18-20 year olds for wearing something Palace. They sorted though. Thats why I have no problem with them as they only seem to fight those if a like minded nature, so in that case let them get on with it.

'Hooligan problem', or 'golden age of football fandom'? Opinion seems to be divided on this point.

Enjoyed reading this thread, from a purely nostalgic and sentimental point of view.
Never was a big time hoolie, mid to late 80's, knoll estate born and bred was my era (me, a coward and can't fight for shit)
but by todays standards of what people constitute as aggro, my mates and I were Cas Pennant in comparison!
Remember playing Aldershot at the Goldstone, an evening game, and Arsenal, Luton, Oxford, Southend away, Ipswich away last game of season (taking liberties), the fat Wolves fan that hit me so hard that I saw saint Peter! a good friend (dead now) that walked all the way to Stratford police station after playing WHU to wait hours for me to be released (drunk and disorderly, cautioned), not running away from Stoke fans, Bolton fans, Barnsley fans and getting battered only to laugh about it later. Great days, never to be repeated.
84/85 Aldershot League Cup? There was a bit of bother that night in the park.

If anyone's up for a proper tear up I recommend getting down The Duke Of Yorks next time they're previewing some Wim Wenders (wanker) documentary. The Paul Thomas Anderson massive will be out in full force along with the Todd Haynes crew, and don't get me started on the Brotherhood of Coen (they are right nasty *******s). Oi, Oi.

And for the record, back in the day I ran The Kubricks and anyone who remembers what happened to those Tarkovsky mugs will tstify t
