After all, he was only signed because Navs got injured and we know Gus doesn't like too many of a similar kind of player.

"Having left Chelsea last summer, I knew of his ability and was aware of his availability, but it was only with Alan Navarro's injury that we needed cover in that position. "

If you had to have one of Kish and Navs, who would you have as back-up to Bridcutt or is Bridcutt the back-up to a better player:eek:?

[Excellent news that he signed 2 years though]

I think that Gus used the Colchester game to see if Navarro will make thye grade again. Sadly on that performance I dont think that he will figure in the plans for the future although Gus may offer him a short contract, 3 months to prove his fitness and ability at trhe new level.

I may get shot down for this, but I really don't think Navarro will be good enough next year. Bridcutt, in my opinion, is a better defensive midfielder and with him and Dicker already confirmed, probably Sparrow, and the possibility of at least one centre midfielder coming in, I don't think Navs will make the cut.

I'd be happy with Kish as back up for the defensive midfield role as he is more than able, and I expect he'll be happy to be a bit-part player next year. Whereas Navarro should be looking to play regularly and I just don't think he would for us next year.

I reckon Navarro will do better than that.

We all know what Navarro is made of, many of us tipped him to lead us the way with his significant role in Gus' plans. Sadly, with the Northampton injury scare he never got given that opportunity.

Gus isn't a man who gives up on a player just like that, he knows what Navarro is made of and he knows what he can bring into the squad.

It's not the end of Alan Navarro, personally it'll be Kish that may get the cut because he has hinted that maybe his playing days are over/he won't be able to hype up to the demand of the Chyampionship as he has said on several occassions.

Alan should stay

I think you are right here. It did look like Gus wanted to see Nav play again at this level at Colchester. In a lacklustre display, he didn't really shine at all.
I suspect being fair that Gus may well him another chance to prove his worth and fitness on a short term deal (like he did with Liam) and then go from there.
After such an injury, it seems only right to at least give him a chance to prove himself.

yep totaly agree Bridcutt is 1st class we were lucky he signed and Kish is more than capable of providing back uip for a couple more seasons

I think you will find Kish stated if he didn`t get a contract with us he said he would be hanging up his boots ( Sign him up Gus )

Navarro will have no problems finding another club in League One.
I'd be amazed if he gets a new contract & i expect Gus will replace both him & Kish.

I'm absolutely convinced that Kish will go. Whether Navs gets a short contract extension 'ees complicated because of his injury but may well depend on whether we can sign all of Gus' midfield targets. If he doesn't fix himself up with a club in the meanwhile, then at the very least I expect him to be invited to join us for pre-season "to prove himself."

Except it was the other knee? Before he got injured he oozed class and was the heart of our midfield. Bridcutt has improved massively as the season progressed and has openly said that a lot of that is down to learning from Kish who has said that he has one season left and that would only be with us. Not beyond the realms for Kish to get a year and start working towards coaching, and as others have said maybe short term for navs to get fully fit again.

I am convinced he wont! Not going to start that many games in championship, but has the ability and experience to play a significant role, especially in games where we want to defend a small lead, or we are being overun in the middle. Superb sub for 30 mins imho.......and back up if injuries/suspension kick in.

Can help with the younger lads like forster-caskey as well

Kish is almost certainly off, that leaves us needing one other defensive mid fielder, all the other midfielers I have seen us linked with have been much more attack minded making me believe he is happy with Dicker/Bridcutt, obviously they need cover and I expect that to be Navarro, who is much better than you lot are giving him credit for, he is a better passer than bridcutt if you ask me.

this is very true , in my top three players on Monday (ok not saying much but he looked sharp again)

, he is a better passer than bridcutt if you ask me.

hmmmmm now THIS I can see where you're coming from BUT over the last couple of Months Bridcutt seems to have come on leaps and bounds for me , be interesting to see them both fully fit head to head to make a clearer judgement on that now.

I can't see him getting a new deal, I've never been truely convinced and with Bridcutt being such a gem this season it appears Navarro is surplus to requirement.

Kish will probably stay as back up for the central midfielders but I'd expect another to sign alongside Bridcutt, Dicker and Sparrow

I'm not saying Bridcutt is a worse player, he has countless strengths that Navarro does not, but Navarro is a top quality passer of the ball, Bridcutt does seem a bit lacking in this department occasionally now and again. Anyone seriously thinking that Kish offers better back up over the entire season has lost the plot if you ask me.

I believe that Kish will go and that we will sign another mdifielder and that Dicker and Sparrow will be the back up to the new player and Bridcutt and making appearances, as and when, but not be regular first choice and also Jake Caskey-Forster being brought through.

Hope he does get another year as I think the competition between him and Bridcutt will bring the best out of them both. A fit Navarro is championship class witness how Steve Bruce was raving about him in pre-season. The link with the two from Scotland (if true) would not be good news as far as a new contract for him goes though think they are defensive midfield.
