not 1900?

Rappers video of the 1979 promotion parade was part of the Cup Final build up and mentions the club's 83 year history.

It mist have been in the late 90's but can anyone remeber how and why it came to light.

I think it came to light via Tim Carder's research for the Seagulls! book so definitely before 1994.

For those of you who don't know the answer this is not a question just a statement saying I am in the 1901 club

June 1901 at the Seven Stars in Ship Street

Yep we all know that. But when I was a lad the club badge and merchandise stated 'Formed 1900' which we all now know was Brighton & Hove Rangers.

Southampton's first and last match at the Dell was against Brighton. The first...September 1898, with the inaugural match on 3 September being against Brighton United. The last 26th May 2001 against B&HA.
That's as close as Southampton could get.

On a similar point, when did the club remember they had won the Charity Shield? For a long time it was not widely acknowledged.

The indomitable John Jackson, the former manager of United, organised a meeting on 24 June 1901 at the Seven Stars Hotel, now O’Neills, in Ship Street at which a new, third club was formed. Brighton & Hove United took up the now-defunct Rangers’ place in the Southern League. Because of complaints by Hove F.C., serious local competition, the name was soon changed to Brighton & Hove Albion before a ball was kicked.

Were we a MK Dons-style club taking up the Rangers' place rather than working our way up the Southern League?

I don't think it was ever forgotten! Remember the house in Dyke Road. My old man told me in the 70's.

I think it wasn't considered a 'complete' winning of the Shield as we were neither League nor Cup winners. When in fact it was an even greater achievement.

Yep well done! So as I said does anyone remember when it was discovered that Brighton & Hove Albion were formed on 24 June 1901 and not in 1900? It would have been after 1983.
