I'm afraid I'm with the doctors on this one. The government make out the doctors to be the bad guys but all is not as it seems. The doctors are overstretched and understaffed in almost all A and E' s across the country. Waiting times to see a GP in most places is a joke with many places its atleast a week. GP 's simply struggle to have decent amount of time to properly scrutinize and evaluate patients on whole host of medications.
The government want to get rid off the NHS and privatize the whole healthcare industry and if its bad now wait till the corporates take charge with more targets and minimum staff and resources.
Already there are so many doctors from abroad working on the cheap whilst newly qualified British doctors are struggling to find posts.
Medicine is a noble profession but the government and corporates seem intent on destroying it

If is the medical profession they are defending they are going a strange way about it.
I would start by requesting the last GP Contracts be reversed. The one where where we all got a more shit service for them being paid more.

Last night I drove from Swindon to take my 82 year old mother for an appointment at Sussex County, ( she broke her leg 6 weeks ago),
I have had to take a day off work .....I will be really pissed off if when I get to the hospital they refuse to see her......
she has NOT been informed the appointment has been changed..

Aren't they striking over their pensions ?
They are - pensions that will see a doctor who starts working in 2015 picking up £68k pension when they retire !

As far as I'm concerned, Doctors are "low hanging fruit" when it comes to making cuts. They've had cushy for far too long.
In the grand scheme of things I think everyone should be pointing a finger at the arrogant Jimmy Carr at this precise moment.
My doctor is certainly a bit of a fruit. I am not sure if he is low hanging though.

What is the connection ?
Do me a favour, they received a massive, over double in some cases, pay increase under the new contracts handed out by Labour giving most GP's a salary in excess of £120 000. They were no longer expected to work "out of hours" so most surgeries resort to an emergency service during this time. The GP's now hardly ever make a diagnoses but refer anything slightly suspect to a consultant. They basically poke and prod their patients for 8 hours a day, at most, give out prescriptions to many who don't need them, refer any that may be ill and take home a handsome salary and a golden pension. GP's under pressure, my arse.
Instead of people picking on Doctors (or whatever public sector worker is demon of the day), pick on Jimmy Carr.
you should see a Doctor about this.
He would probably only derive some pleasure from sticking something up there!
So because Jimmy Carr is fiddling his tax, we're not allowed to summise that Doctors of all people are prime candidates for austerity?

The real beef is that they are also being asked to contribute 4% more to their pension pot, compared to other civil servants. The Government is trying to alter an agreement made only four years ago.
I wouldn't have thought most trained Doctors, GP or Hospital ( who have many years more training) give a monkeys about any future Doctors who have only just started their degree courses.
