Doctor who dilemma: river song

Ok, this is puzzling me.

In the next episode we meet River, but when was the last time the Doctor saw River?

Was it their wedding in an aborted timeline?

Was it the time he met future self in the Tardis who was sending River off to her last adventure (Singing Towers of Derillium) before she went to the library.

Or was it Berlin?

I really do get lost from a River point of view.

tbh, as it's not a very interesting storyline and the character is really beginning to grate on me I gave up bothering trying to follow it. Just looking forward to Amy and Rory leaving

It's a shame if river is coming back so far this latest series has been one of the best ever
Back to some good humour and every episode has felt like a mini movie
Not like the last series it got very complicated and felt the whole River Song storyline was lame

Yeah, I must admit I've given up trying to follow it and all these 'aborted timelines' and 'rebooted universes' are a bit too deus ex machina for me. And yes I'm looking forward to seeing the last of Amy Pond. Karen Gillan maybe easy on the eye, but she's a sodding awful actress. Hope the River Song character follows soon as she's beginning to grate on me as well.

I really thought this was going to be an interesting sex dilemma involving my favourite slutty redhead, and preferably her mother too. Quite disappointed now.

I lost interest in Amy when she stopped wearing those short skirts to be honest.

That should clear it up!

Last series was too complicated, this series is just.. well, shit. Really like Moffatt as a writer, but not a show runner.

I hate River Song, worse character by a country mile.

I agree that this series is made better by the fact that their are seperate episodes (mini movies as one poster pointed out), I just think that they have been hit and miss, Dinosaurs on a spaceship was great but that one set in the wild west was pretty poor.

I remember in some of her earlier appearances they seemed to suggest that the River and the Doctor are not meeting in any chronological order - that each time they meet they need to work out what shared experiences they have at that point. That, for instance, today he will meet the river from next week, tomorrow he will meet the river from last year.

But then there was an episode where she talked about how every time she sees him she knows him less and he knows her more and that eventually he won't know her at all. Which seemed weird because the first episode we meet her in is the one where he doesn't know her at all (in the library). However linear or non-linear their relationship is, we're experiencing it from the Doctor's point of view, so the last time we know he saw her was then - in the aftermath of the finale of the last season at Rory and Amy's house.

I think they just mess with their relationship and the chronology of it all depending on te needs of the current episode.

Anyhoo, as far as I remember, the aborted timelines occurred at the end of the first season with Matt Smith where Amy and Rory got married.

The last time we saw River was the end of the last season, where she supposedly killed the doctor, but it turned out he actually miniaturised inside a doctor shaped suit. She saw him when she looked in "the doctor's" eye and saw him. She then continued as she was meant to (burning the "body", etc.). Then spent some time wit Amy and Rory, where they discovered the Doctor was still alive.

More importantly, what's going on with the phone charger? Rory left it in Henry VII's bedroom last week...... but they talked about it the week before. It's small, but it bothers me.

(Just to stay at least a little ok topic: I am very pro-Alex Kingston so am glad she's back...)

The Astral Planes, man...
The biggest query is how are we supposed to watch the last episode when we have a late kick-off? I wonder if the club could show the episode on the concourses after the match?

Hmmmm, I have to say last series (at least the first half) was a good recovery from Matt Smith's first season and had one of my all-time favourite story's ('The Doctor's Wife', although I guess it was fanservice after all :D). I'd agree though that series has been pretty terrible so far and yet again another waste of an appearance by a 'major' monster (Daleks).

How and more importantly why? its not like he was able to plug it in anywhere?

Each to their own, I thought the cowboy episode was the worst ever, and I've seen them all.

Must admit I did fall asleep watching that one , but after the last two series I thought it was losing it's way even my kids lost interest in it now we're all back watching again

You haven't got 'first night' and 'last night'

(an episode where the doctor picks up a river from storm cage to go travelling, bumps in to another river whilst escaping from sontarans at a hen do and then bumps in to a THIRD river, the latest river to date that has a glimpse at the moment the future doctor takes her for a meal at the singing towers of Derillium)

Basically eleven had three rivers in the Tardis at the same time, and neither river knew lol

The seaside.
This series is dogshit on toast. Saturday's ep was even worse than that angry scribble one from a few years back. Hope the BBC do the decent thing and put it down after next year's 50th anniversary love-in.
