Simply Red were absolutely HUGE? Probably the biggest band in Britain in 1995, one of the few artists to have a simultaneous number one album and single with the EPIC Fairground. I think at that point it was estimated one in every 3.6 UK households owned a Simply Red LP, astonishing.

My mum doesn't like them ever since she went to see them at some point and they didn't play their biggest hit.

I have no idea when this was, where it happened or what the song was.

I didn't own any of their records. I only liked "money's too tight (to mention)", but not enough to buy it.
Always annoyed me that he was 25 and was upset he couldn't qualify for a pension. Sorry Mick - you may be one of Manchester's best blue-eyed soul singers but your boys will take one hell of a beating.

I think I have been exposed to too many Crodo posts.

Just to show how poor 1995 musically was, Robson & Jerome had two singles that both sold more copies than Fairground, and they had the best selling album of 1995.

Thankfully I have no albums or singles by either acts in my collection.

I seem to remember a similarly named band who simultaneously released their first album and peaked 10 years earlier in 1985

NO! 1995 was an absolutely great year!

Weller - Stanley Road
Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory
Radiohead - The Bends
Pulp - Different Class
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Alanis Morissette - Jagged Little Pill
The Verve - A Northern Soul
Blur - The Great Escape (with the exception of Country House - it is a better album than it gets credit for)

Disappointing. Thought this was going to be a thread about Earth, Wind and Fire but instead it's about a decidedly average group with a prima donna lead singer with a chip on his shoulder because he's a ginge and a Man U fan.
