...and if so, what are you reading at the moment?

I'm reading Bill Bryson A short history of nearly everything.

That's a fine book. I was reading it, but kind of got 'lost' half way through when I didn't read it for few nights (the bit about moss). It is still lying there, waiting to be finished.

Read that. As a wordsmith of few, um, words, I preferred Mother Tongue - as it were.

I've just finished reading The Odessa File by Frederick Forsyth, but I can't find it now and the missus wants to read it next. I'm going to have to find something else to read - perhaps I might go trawling the second-hand bookshops for some more Len Deighton.

Superb book.

Last books I read were Catch 22 - Joseph Heller, Starter for Ten - David Nicholas.. I think.

Reading The Historian at the moment.

The Tyrannicide Brief - Geoffrey Robertson

John Cooke

In 1649, no lawyer in the country would accept the brief of prosecuting Charles I, except one — John Cooke, the bravest of barristers, who was hung, drawn and quartered as punishment for sending the King to the scaffold.

I've very nearly finished Nick Hornby - A long way down. I've thoroughly enjoyed it, although I know quite a few people who thought it was disappointing.

I would appreciate a recommendation for a new book. I fancy a real page turner and nothing too heavy.

Nearly always read before going to bed.

Current read: Tom Jones. Fantastic book, wish I'd read it 30 years ago after I'd just seen the film.

The Colditz Legacy by Guy Walters, not bad at all if you like war and secret service novels.
