poor bloke. time is what he needs and he should be given it. as most say, he needs to bring in a couple of new faces - personalise the team a bit - and them it will improve. we are always nonsense in the cups anyway - why is everyone surprised! albion tradition to get embarrassed in the cup every year:nono:

We rely too much on youth. Many of our youth team aren't good enough. It really annoys me when we keep givng them so many chances to prove themselves, and they keep failing. We're supposed to be building a squad that is capable of getting us out of Division Two and that will be good enough to have half a chance of staying up in Division One. I don't think many of our youngsters would be able to handle Division One football, when they have hardly set this division alight.

He'll be fine, once he gets to grips with the job. He's gonna have to do some buying and selling though.

I think that is a bit harsh on our youth team I think they have done well and unfortunatley relied on too much. They are our future and it takes time to build a squad.

He'll sort us out. He'll get us up & keep us up comfortably next year. In some ways I think he's quite lucky. He's got a truck load of kids coming through & no money. Either he'll get us up & will be applauded or he won't & can blame the fact that he had to blood the kids.

Saying that, he's a born winner, hates Reading & will get us up

Yes. I was pleased when he got the job, and still believe he's the right man for it. It's the players that need a serious kick up the 'arris.

Of course I have faith in Mark McGhee. As 80's Seagull says: It's the players wot need a boot up the jacksy.

He has a re-building job on his hands and it's of the same proportions as Micky's job. Re-builds take a bit of time-as far as I'm concerned he should be given at least until the end of his contract to do the job required.

Hes got a proven track record at this level, I say give him and the players time to settle in and assess the situation then !!!

I agree.

Marney can't hack it at this level.
Neither can Wilkinson.
El Abd looked like he might have what it takes, but needs time.
Hinshelwood could be the finished article if someone taught him how to pass.
The jury is still out on McPhee

Either way - at present they'll only just hold the team in Div 2 (if that.)

It's the end of an era. The Micky Adams era if you like. Since 1999/2000 the same core have held the club together. We need to understand pretty quickly how to regenerate that core whilst retaining the team ethic and spirit that it carries with it.

At the core I'd put

Carpenter
Oatway
Cullip
Watson
Mayo
Jones
Kuipers
Booker
Dean White
Martin Hinshelwood
Dean Wilkins

Of that core, I'd say thank you very much and look at replacing

Carpenter
Watson
Mayo
Martin Hinshelwood

I agree with Bwian re the re-building. MM's not like Coppell or Taylor, who were happy to just put an extra layer on what had pretty much been inherited from Micky Adams.

We're now a few years down the line from Micky, players have got set in their ways and older in the bones.

McGhee will have his own ideas and because - hopefully - he sees this as a long-term job, he'll want to change things so they work his way.

A lot of players won't like the change, perhaps particularly the older ones - the younger ones are more adaptable. It's going to take time and sometimes you have to take a few steps back before you can start going forward.

DK believes that he's the right man to take us into a new era, so that's good enough for me.

Not knowing much about MArk McGhee, I will wait until he has played a few more games until I say wether I have faith in him or not.

However, since watching 2 games with him in charge (Boston and Posh), I have already seen improvement with the ball being passed on the ground. I didn't see the FA cup game, but to be honest, I'm half glad we didn't get that far as we can concentrate on the league. Yes I know it gets more revenue into the club, but I would prefer us to do better in the LDV and (hopefully) get to the final at the Millenium stadium).
