Now this isnt a knee jerk after two game reaction.

I was pre- concerned with how our strikers were linking up in the freindlies, no1 was standing out it all looked a little mis-shaped. Unfortunately we have started the season in the same vein.

Now.....is it me....or does Slade have no idea yet what is our best partnership as our strikers are so simular.

Dickinson seems to have that lazy style like Murray, now im not saying that doesnt work...but was he the type of striker we needed?

If you look at previous years and what works.........previous real succesful strike partnerships...such as Zamora and steel, Knight & Iwelumo...or any good forward line...usually involves a target man and a pacey forward.

I thought a billy sharp.......or alex rhodes at huddersfield would be what we would have been looking at in pre-season.....a young hungry...speedy striker who can complement...davies/forster or murray.

Im just a little concerned at how long this.....I dont know who to play with Dickinson thing goes on....because at the moment...the only striker worth his weight in gold is Nicky Forster for sheer commmitment.

Again I'd like to say......This isnt a knee jerk panic mode thread.....just a mildly concerned outlook at the start of our season. Imhoping give it 4-6 weeks.....they are all working together and its coming together.

I think it's too early to say that we don't have a combination that works, although the 1st half on Saturday did suggest that the lone striker role doesn't suit Dickinson.

I think Davies and Dickinson could be the answer.

Wardy and Mellor? Sometimes it just works.

Dickinson's quite big and looked like he could play well with another man up front in the second half against Walsall. I just think at the moment everyone needs a bit of time to get used to how each other plays, and then results will start to come.

I've only seen Dickinson twice (Walsall and Wimbledon friendly), but I certainly wouldn't call him lazy. Looks like a real handful and one of those players who will work his nuts off. The 40-odd minutes or so of Forster and Dickinson on Saturday showed promise.

.

Not sure he knows our best midfield or formation yet either. It may be early days but having to revamp the team and the tactics at half time in both games so far and to have a team so impotent in front of goal is worrying imo.

No part of the team is gelling yet, except maybe Virgo and Elphick.

This is obviously no easy job and I expect us to be be around the bottom of the table for at least the 1st couple of months of the season.

It seems Murray is being carried as a passenger at the moment. A dead weight around the teams neck. If we can persuade someone to stump up the readies for him then I think it needs to be invested up front, sooner rather than later.

Forster tries his best, but fast coming to the end of his career.

Hart pretty much the same.

Davies, potential but needs toget a few goals to settle him down.

Dickinson, out of first team football for a year, struggling to find his form, but I'm sure it won't be long.

For me I think Dickinson will play well with anyone with a bit of pace, whether it be Forster, Davies or even Hart. I honestly think Dickinson will come good. I'm not sure what will happen to Murray, because I can't imagine him working with Dickinson (although I though Tevez and Rooney would be rubbish together, so what do I know!).

Dickinson looked a real handful on Saturday. Can see him playing well alongside Forster.

Shame we ran up against Clayton Ince first League game out. He's a brilliant keeper even if he has a couple of blatant weak spots (comes WAY too far off his line, was never tested with a single low shot) that our strike force was too gormless to capitalise on. But we won't come up against a keeper anywhere near as good as Ince most weeks, so things should only get better. IN SALDE WE TRUST

Dickinson has previously thrived in a 4-5-1 and not really performed in a 4-4-2

Doesn't really matter how shit the opposition's keeper is, if we can't get any shots on goal they may as well play 11 outfield players. Bottom line is the team need to create more chances for the strikers.
