We have a bit of a shitty side which to be honest does not endear us to other fans....not that it matters to be liked.

We whinge and moan to the ref alot and are very niggly. Poyets after match comments are often from a similar angle and the fact our assistant got sent off for dissent says a lot.

We had it last year so clearly a Poyet thing and it worked then so no major issue with it. Just hate to lose I guess.

As I said on the other thread, we are not physical and don't kick lumps out of other teams but our players are forced to make cynical fouls to stop play when we lose the ball, because we are so open.

We're not dirty. As ^ mentioned, we're not a physical team, meaning we give away a lot of niggly fouls. I wouldn't worry about the stats, more so what it says about us (that we're not strong enough).

Albion are 7 points clear of the next worse - which inevitably is Leeds. It says something. The worst part is that its mostly for sly stuff instead of barefaced fouls like Leeds.

Where's the option for "Don't really care just as long as we play decent football and win a few" ?

This season we average a yellow card for every 4.73 fouls we commit. Our opponents average one yellow card every 5.32.

Saturday we committed 9 fouls and received 5 yellow cards, southampton committed 14 and received 2.
Against leeds we committed 8 fouls and received 5 yellows, Leeds committed 18 fouls and received the same number of cards.
13 fouls for two yellows v birmingham, to their 16 fouls for one card
West Ham 12 fouls for 4 yellows, v 11 fouls for one yellow.

I'm sceptical of those tables.

We definitely have a cynical side to our game, no doubt. BUT, on the yellow cards stats - have a look through our results, and the number of yellows compared to our opponents..

BBC SPORT | Football | My Club | B | Brighton | Results

In only 5 of our 17 league games have we actually had more yellows than the opposition, in 3 of them we've had the same, and 9 we've had less. Therefore in over half our games this season, you could suggest we were 'less dirty' based on cards. Does that suggest we've simply been a victim of card happy refs/officials losing control? What does it say? Genuinely not sure.

Good point. Well made.

I think we are almost naive in our fouling and what we think we can get away with ..our lack of championship experience comes in this form as well.

I don't think we are a dirty side at all..some of the tackles have been though desparation more thn anything....the 2 sending offs ..were nawty language and a 2nd book able offence the 2nd of which was debatle

We've picked up yellow cards for niggly fouls which the opposition seem to get away with because they have more experience in making it look innocuous.

In all fairness, all those red cards we have are a second book able offence - insanely harsh one too - and Tanno's l. Not two footed, leg breaking challenges...
Bookings? Reckless challenges at best along with dissent etc...are we dirty!? No...
