Our grandad had that before he died, he was in and out of hospital so much that he was in constant pain, and his body was gradually giving up, as had he

We were all obviously devastated when he died, but understood his reasons behind it and once over the initial shock, understood why he wanted to put it in place

Not saying he was better off dead, but watching him struggle on a daily basis is more heartbreaking then him dying


Exactly this.

My mother-in-law had 2 heart failures, a new heart valve and suffered from acute arthritis, blood pressure problems etc.. She was in much pain for a lot of the time.

She signed a DNR form. Last weekend she had a massive stroke and passed away. It is exactly what she wanted.
