Digital Television Recorders have changed the way I watch television

Surprised myself to be honest.

I've got SKY plus, but to be honest most the stuff I record is available on Freeview.

Within all the complete rubbish on television there is some great programming, but it used to be so diifficult to find or the hassle of recording it wasn't worth the bother.

I'm not watching any more TV than I used to, just much better TV.

I go through the schedules at the weekend and set the recorder to pick up what I want to watch for the next week.


BBC Four in particular is an amazing channel. The beauty of their repeating schedule is that you can set your box easily to record something on the middle of the night and set a "series link" to make sure you don't miss another episode.

Has this technology completely changed anyone elses viewing habits ?

I'll let you know next week when we get Sky+ installed. Phoned them up threatening to cancel (because we knew we would get something out of them) and they offered us the sky+ box for free, free installation and free subscription (obviously will be free after July 1st anyway). Looking forward to it!

Have only ever used it the few weeks I've been back at the parent's house over the last couple of years, but in that short space of time I found it fantastic. I was recording shows like nobody's business to watch while nursing my hangovers each morning.

I'll probably get it when I'm settled back in the UK, as it's GOOD.

V+ from Virgin has done the same for me. As Clapham says, makes it much easier to find and record good progamming that would otherwise have been missed.

I'm intrigued by the idea of digital recording but I don't think it will be any good for me for some time.

We have from 8.00 (when the kids go to sleep) until about 10.0 (when we go to bed) and in that time we have to make food, tidy up etc. So, we're scarcely looking for programmes to watch.

I must say that the idea of not setting a video any more is an attractive one but more advanced technology will have to wait until the kids are a bit older.

I Sky+ everything I want to watch except live sport, mostly because of the increasing number of advertisements that interupt programming schedules these days.

A 60 minute program on Sky 1 can be reduced by a third if you skip through the ads.

Yes,it has.My daughters know how to set the damned recorder so I can watch Neighbours,Americas Next Model,Eastenders,Lost.Hollyoaks dadadada,and if I try to watch a Sky programme whilst 2 of their programmes are recording,the info politely tells me to bugger off.

Sky boxes?Bah! Humbug!

It has sent me back to terrestrial tv,or as the trade description goes, another chance to view....................

I never watch Lost as it's being broadcast. I prefer to Sky PLUS it and fast forward through the adverts. In only about 40 mins without the commercial breaks.

I have programmed my sky+ to record all the programmes I dont like and then to play them back when I am out. Its certainly changed my viewing habits............... Oh yes.
