Yet another gift idea thread.

We were thinking about these photo frames, for our elderly relations, but don't know much about them.

Are they any good?
What do we need to look out for?
What do we need to steer clear of?
How easy are they to use?

Basically all the usual stuff.

Haven't got one, did contemplate the idea for a bit a while ago but the cheaper ones looked a bit ...err cheap and the more expensive ones were expensive.

I have bought my girlfried a digital photo keyring though as a stocking filler, bound to be crap but hey it was cheap.

Sorry just realised that this is of absolutely no help to you at all, oh well!

wherever the money is
just bought a Samsung 7" High Resolution Digital Photo Frame (SPF-72H) for my old dear for xmas. It looks pretty good and at under £100 it must be a bargain for the res etc :)

Forget the Samsung 7" one.

Kodak Easyshare HD 8" is currently £99 at Dixons and on Amazon. I got one for my parents for Christmas and its quality.

Unlike a lot of the others it has 128MB of internal memory as well as running off all memory cards / pen drives, etc. It also plays video clips and mp3 files so that you can have background music to your slideshow if you want.

The 7" Kodak one from supposedly the same range is still £80 and is dreadful.

I purchased the 8" Kodak from Argos for £89. Was debating the Phillips 9" which had the internal battery but the build quality and reliability was getting slated everywhere I looked. It would have been nice to have the stand alone function but it isn't a necessity so settled for reliability/picture quality instead.
