I noticed that his slide rule pass to Mitoma for the chance he just nudged wide was with his left foot. Hard enough to do with his favoured right!Yep, his forward passing was great, and his ability to find space for himself![]()
Agree. 10 minutes late IMO for Gomez. All’s well that ends well, but I couldn’t understand why Fab left it so long so make the subs. We had a strong bench, had clearly lost energy in the middle of the park and were risking both losing the game and injuries.
Yep, he judged that one to absolute perfection. It’s early days but already I’m struggling to see where any weaknesses lie that might prevent him from being a top quality midfielder even at this very high level. He seems remarkably well-rounded.I noticed that his slide rule pass to Mitoma for the chance he just nudged wide was with his left foot. Hard enough to do with his favoured right!
These are the sort of in game decision making FH could still improve on. Not knocking the manager, but the ability to depart from the pre prepared ideas still needs some work.Agree. 10 minutes late IMO for Gomez.
Is it now because subs can only be made in three slots that managers (Fab included) tend to make multiple subs..?
I guess he wanted Welbz on, but not too early....so delayed the subbing of Gomez too?
I think this is a good point which I take to be that decisions like when and who to make substitutions is a little trickier than many of us credit -- and I was one calling for Gomez to be substituted earlier than was the case.Agree. 10 minutes late IMO for Gomez.

Alternatively after 60 mins he could have brought Weiffer on for Gomez to protect the lead.I called it 5 mins or so into the 2nd half that Gomez looked done. But he's not returning from injury like Wieffer who is also being managed backand it wasn't a game for Ayari, he would have been physically bullied prior to 70 mins, so he probably planned for Gomez to play ~60 mins. The anomoly is O'Reilly; where is he? If he doesn't get minutes on Sunday I'll wonder if all is OK there.
I fully understand why FH bought Hinch on and then swapped him with Lamps, that Semenyo is a proper player (although he wasn't up against Veltman!!), I'd be amazed if he's still at Muff by August.
