Played football in same school team as racehorse trainer Gary Moore
John Snow was out teacher for the winter term before playing and touring with England
Ran against Steve Ovett in schools championships at Withdean, he was at Varndean, I was at Westlain

I played in a 5 a side tournament at St Francis once and a certain Paul Ifill :tosser: was on one of the opposition teams when he was playing for Millwall, I spent our entire match against them trying to kick the b'stard and never got close to him.

Got his mate though.:)

Payed against Gerry Armstrong during Sunday League match and another time against Teddy Maybank when he payed for Corals

@Cappers I seem to remember you were the only one that 'payed' their subs:thumbsup:
I was a lino when Mr Maybank spent eighty nine minutes being offside----then I gave him off when he was on:blush:
Also one of their forwards headed the ball harder than any of our lot could kick it:ohmy:

My school in Australia had a cricket specialist course so we had a few Australian cricketers that went, none in my schooling time but I've got 2 friends who I played school sports with who play AFL.

That was me  *

* not me. I was sixteen years old, pretty mediocre, and played left back, when Sammy Nelson was hung-over / late / not arsed to turn up.

We had two P.E. Teachers at my school, Mike Smith and Mike Yaxley, remember them?

Mike Yaxley went on to carve out a very successful career as Albion physio ... and Mike Smith surpassed that.
Smithy became Team Manager of Wales!

No wonder we had a sh*t hot school football team.

Mike Smith was a bit of a bully in truth, but Yaxley was a sound teacher.

Played with and against Gareth Barry, Duncan McArthur and Scott Ramsey. Played against Ben Andrews an Will Packham (he also kept me out of the county side, which is probably an indictment of how 'good' I was). I'm told I played against Ashley Cole in the quarter finals of some national cup but I lost the programme so can't be sure! Also played against Mike Yardy at football a few times while at school (Hampden Park).
