As a 14 year old did every round except the Newcastle replay.

Strange though it sounds, I probably remember the Semi more than the final.

Maybe it's because I've got the video for the final although I've only ever watched the replay bit once.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
Yes, it was my first season and went to both games with my Dad who had been a season ticket holder for 27 years.
I was 9, and sometimes when I think back to the days, I cannot differenciate between the day itself and the many dreams I had about it around the same time !

I am on the front page of the Cup final edition of the Argus with my foam hand at Brighton station.

Great days, both of them, but travelling back to Manchester after the replay was the shittiest football experience of my life

Went to both, aged a very young 22....

First feeling was, why are all those Man Utd fans in our end (in the lower tier) ? It turned out Mike Bamber had made a few quid selling our tickets to them. Not the first time weve been sold out by a greedy chairman. Nearly did it on the day though...

For the replay we were more optimistic because Stevie Foster could play after having missed the first game. We lost 4-0. The Man U fans taunted us with 'Stevie Foster, what a difference you have made'.

Other memories ?

Jimmy Melias white disco shoes...
Team arriving in the British Caledonian Helicopter...
A Man U trident in the crowd spearing a Seagull...
The Foam Hands...
The Flags...

Happy days !

I think I need a lie down and some cocoa now...

I was a cash strapped Mum in Yorkshire who had no chance of getting to watch the team.

But I had my scarf (blue and white horizontal stripes) and stuck in my front window with blue and white crepe paper rolls twisted together to go across the diagonals of my window. I also had a rosette my Dad bought in Sussex and sent to me and my bobble hat. I sat in my living room with both on whilst my ex-husband had to get fish & chips for the kids.

I was glued to the tv from 11am onwards watching all the build up including the helicopter etc, right on to the end at 5pm.

Was there for the final. Went up on the old Horsham 'blue and white supporters' bus. Great day out- helicopters, foam hands, jumpers for goal posts!

If only......................

Just had to use this subject for my first post.

I must truly be an oldie, judging by others memories of this momentous occasion. We beat Liverpool at Anfield the day before the Mrs. and me flew to the US to start a new job. She said it would be OK to come back for the final, if we made it. We, did, so I did, despite having to take out a loan to pay for it!!! Have to admit I cried when I walked into Wembley.

Buggered up the return flight booking though and had to rearange it for the replay. Wish I hadn't!

great memories tinged with fear and sadness - I remember having to walk past those friendly ManU fans after the 2 - 2 match - dodging random fists and spit, and feeling slightly grateful that Smith didn't score! Also remember the "Bosun" mob leaving at half time in the replay - they didn't take too kindly to losing! (BTW some have reappeared in the past few seasons).

There for both games.

Great memories.

Re-arranged a holiday to go to the replay, and remember queueing half way round the Goldstone (sniff) on the Monday morning to get tickets. Amazingly, work didn't seem to know where I was, though I thought it was blindingly obvious. I did work in the footballing backwater of Croydon at the time, though.

And I still say Gary Bailey did exceptionally well to save from Gordon Smith. Smudger's goal in the first half was the best feeling ever I reckon. We were leading Man U in the cup final at Wembley. One to savour.

I honestly don't remember much about the replay. It's almost as much of a blur as the Notts County game there.
