Be nice if these "experts" actually went to a few games before posting their crap.

hear hear.

They speak with about as much authority on the Albion's performance as Anne Widdicombe would about Gully's girls - and I liked all this piggyback and leapfrog malarkey they've got in their new routine :p

My motm today was El abd but it was a piss poor game played out by 2 very ordinary teams......And why does Gatting duck everytime he goes to head the ball which then makes him miss it altogether...Elder won almost every header he went for when he came on..he just needs to work on his fitness

I would like to see Elder start next Saturday in place of Robinson, and then maybe bring Robinson on if needed.

I think Robinson is getting a bit too comfortable at the moment.

Of course, this may all change when we get our four new guys during the week!

Boring game.

But we were alright. Much better than the last two games. Created a fair few chances in the second half - Robinson missed a one on one which he really should have put away.

Petty Petty ref who blew up for EVERYTHING. And lots of diving from Vale.

Our midfield defensively pretty solid - as a result, they didn't have a chance.

2 points lost i think - but at least we weren't completely hopeless!:)

I take it you never went to Chesterfield then?

Don't be a fool, Sam. Michel may not have been forced into a save today, but he was so much more confident than Henderson. He came for crosses, dealt with set pieces, and his kicking was fine. Considering what he was asked to do, he had a perfect game:clap:

Sorry I felt he came a couple of times when he shouldn't have, one he got away with because Lynch and their forward had a bad clash of heads. Not a perfect game by any means as his kicking still lacks distance and accuracy. On a number of occasions today everyone drifted to the left in anticipation of his kick and he managed to slice it up the centre.

Kuipers handling and command of the area breeds confidemce in our defence.Another good game from him

I think today we battled hard, challenged well, and the defence looked solid.

The issue as I see it, is that I think today showed us in a nutshell, that we havent YET, the ability to beat teams like Port Vale which requires a bit of something extra....perhaps a bit of magic that as the pundits say " unlocks" teams.

I put it down to the inexperience of the players we have currently, who chose the quick option...ie get rid of the ball in the general direction of where our players are supposed to be rather than where they are.

If we get in an experienced midfielder and attacker, this will help enormously to develop the talents these young lads have.

We will have to wait and see if that comes off.

Well said. We looked committed and didn't give up. Considering Port Vale had a fair amount of corners and possession in our '22' we did very well to keep a clean sheet.

We are a young team and you can see that they are gradually learning. I came away relatively satisfied, despite not being a great game. Two clean sheets in a row and some grit and determination was shown.

What worries me is that we are too predictable and we are quite easy to neutralise.

Our set pieces are slowly improving, as well.

So how come Kerry Mayo had to rescue him by clearing the ball off the line from one of Vale's free kicks?

That was a good move by Kerry as he only ran back to cover Kuipers left hand post at the very last minute virtually as the man was shaping to take the kick. I do not thnik that it was a prearranged plan just something that experience told Kerry to do.

I think generally KM had a fairly good solid game.

Would you rather Michel had dived into Mayo to do the job himself?

He should have read the kick as well as Mayo did and positioned himself better. :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: ;)
