But.......

If he saw him - and he may not have - he wouldn't have known if he was onside. Crossing it accurately would have been harder and he'd not have got any credit. And it was the one time all game Marshall was out of position. Where CMS is is entirely irrelevant in the debate around what he meant to do.

OK then, point taken, but have you ever known Bruno, in all his time at the club, demonstrate what looks like such sublime skills that he can wrong-foot a keeper who clearly was on the very top of his game tonight. Be honest, it was a fluke off his shin that went in. If the player says otherwise, he's bullshitting.

The best analogy I can think of is a cricket fast bowler. Bruno was playing the ball into the corridor of uncertainty and clipped the top of off rather than finding the edge.

We were sitting behind him when he hit it, clearly a cross he messed up, the look on his face told everyone it was a fluke.

Crossing is about putting the ball in the right area. It is then the job of the players in the middle to make the correct run. Bruno did the right thing there and deserves credit. By the looks of it CMS had done his job well too.

I'm sure I could think of past examples if I tried. Bruno was FLAIRTASTIC when he first signed. In fact I'm sure I remember a thumping long range goal after which he, er, hoofed it in to the North repeatedly trying to repeat the feat. But that ties up with mine and Goldstone Rappers theory that he meant to score because he tries that sort of thing a lot - albeit unsuccessfully.

However, my stunning playing career as a fat centre back for work, pub and ex pat teams makes me call BS on the shin theory. The ball does not fly like that if you shin it. How do I know? I've shinned it more times than Bozza's posted traffic driving polls late on a Tuesday night. Never once went straight in line with the leg.

No going by all his other crosses and shots every time he's played for us there's not a cat in hells chance he meant it.

I am so bored with your constant criticism of bruno, he has been consistently good this season, today wasn't his best game but still played well enough, always seeking the game changing pass and a quality ball for a lua lua chance, solid in defense and for me top 3 most skilful players we have at the club and yes he did mean his goal.

No he hasn't played well. He's a liability in defence. He's not particularly skilful and finally you're deluded if you believe he meant it. He has failed to show that level of ability in any previous game for us especially as it come off his shin.

Clip clearly shows CMS at the far post. May have been aiming to put in a cross to him. Or far more likely was just trying to lob something in the general vicinity of the goal and hoping for the best - as I'm sure he'll confirm as soon as anybody asks him.

The point is, as you acknowledge, he was pretty obviously going for goal. That's why he took it on the volley. As he's now confirmed himself.

I bought Bruno's goal minutes @ 2 and sold CMS @ 18 with the knowledge that Bruno can finish and CMS can't. They know it as well. Why on earth would he pass?

Pretty sure he meant it. He's a fancy dan player who tries stuff like that knowing once in a while it comes off.

THIS

He's a player who lives off his confidence, and always goes for the ambitious.

Goal of the Season contender.
