It isn't "BS" though, is it? There has been a big shift in "reserve" team football in recent years to the extent that it no longer exists, as such. The focus has shifted to development squads, which is an accurate term for what they are - a bridge between youth team football (U-18) and the first team. The Football Combination, which was the reserve league here in the south, is no longer in existence. Instead we have the Professional Development League, which is an U-21 competition (with an allowance to field up to 3 overage outfield players).
We don't have a single player in our development squad who is yet 21.

Because it's no longer a place for eleven lazy old journeymen to saunter about & mark time in like reserve fixtures always used to be. The emphasis now is far more on bringing through young players.
Thanks for that, I normally try and go to these games, might have to give this one a miss.....
