He can score goals, and seems fine with the physical element of mens football. Is this the youth team striker that could finally make the step up? If we'd got that Welbeck type striker in over the summer maybe we would have seen Evan go out on his first loan.

Our striker options and how we use them are weird

So we have only 3 recognised strikers and one that’s shows a lot of promise is playing u23 today

Surely he should be on the bench tomorrow and there will be other u23 games he can feature in if need be

He’s ready no ?

For all the much-touted Succession Planning around the club, it sure as hell doesn't apply to the core footballing business of putting the ball in the back of the net. There's Welbeck, always one tackle away from a extended lay-off. Then there's Undav, currently developing arse-splinters on the bench. Then there's Ferguson, who's playing for the U23's today.

Amateur hour or what?

Not sure what the problems are with having a 17 year old striker in the wings , carefully managed, who has already made his PL debut, scored for us this season in the league cup, trains and appears in first team squads and also still plays for the u21s to retain his match day sharpness (and scores another hat trick to boot). But hey “amateur hour” for some reason.

Strange this. We obviously rate him enough to get rid of Maupay without replacing yet we play him in the reserves with a big game tomorrow. Surely after Christmas we’ll start seeing him involved more. Yes he’s young but it’s the physical side youngsters struggle with and the kid is a unit.

He’s been in the squad nearly every game so far this season - but chances of coming on the pitch are limited . It’s not strange at all.
Welbeck will start tomorrow and could well play all 90 mins. So smart to keep his match sharpness up and confidence him by giving him the odd run out in the u21s (he didn’t play last week v Arsenal u21s).

It’s not that strange, he needs to stay match fit and sharp and won’t necessarily do that sitting on the bench every week. It’s also going to help his development and confidence to still appear for the U21s. Playing today doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t be on the bench tomorrow if required. It wouldn’t be the first time that has happened.

Not really. You only get better at football by playing it. You don't learn anything by sitting on a bench or doing star jumps on the sideline. It's a good sign to me, says that Welbeck is ready for tomorrow and Undav is trusted to come on. I've no doubt you'd call it amateur if we started Ferguson tomorrow and left Welbeck on the bench

As for succession planning we've got Adringa and Sima out on loan learning their craft by, guess what, actually playing football, just as White and Van Hecke did and Enciso also hitting that mid range between first team bench and U21.

He’s been in the squad nearly every game so far this season - but chances of coming on the pitch are limited . It’s not strange at all.

Yes, exactly this. No doubt will be accused of being club lickers for posting the plain and simple truth.

Oh, and well done Evan on the goals

I thought Captain Negative was happy after we signed Billy G. It would seem not
